"Exceptional food in an authentic, non-demanding environment. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful, which added to the great experience. For bread lovers, there are 3 different breads, all of which are made there and are all wonderful. I stop on the way out of town to get bread and take it home to friends. My salad was fabulous and the vodka chicken pasta (a specialty) was cooked perfectly with a wonderful sauce. The specials change with the seasons. Desserts are all made there and everyone looked great. We share the ice cream on Sunday with homemade caramelized marshmallows and chocolate ganache. It was wonderful. You can share it with 4 people as it is very large. We will definitely have dinner here again when we return to Mayo and Golf."

"We had a great dinner and excelled service. The 3 of us shared fries (so good! , beet salad (also delicious and sliders. Lastly we had the doughnuts for dessert. Our server was great with beer recommendations and accommodating our requests for a few things on the side, wanting a side of ranch, etc. The only complaint was that during dinner there was a terrible smell of smoke. We pointed this out to the server and manager as there were people smoking directly outside the restaurant. The smoke smell went away, but came back later and it was the same group. This leads me to think it is possible that the restaurant didn't actually talk to the smokers the first time and let them know the law about smoking near a door. Also, I feel like the host who was standing right there looking at them should have been trained to know this is not ok and either feel comfortable talking to the group or alerting the manager. Later the manager came to our table and apologized saying he was in the back and could smell it. This is not a reason to keep me from coming back because we had a good time. However, I do wish this was handled better and hopefully now the staff knows what to do in the future. I looked on the way out and didn't see any signs about no smoking so perhaps those can be added. I know I have seen them at other restaurants. (I believe the law in Mountain View is something like 25 feet from the entrance there is no smoking allowed."

"Nice outdoor area, staff had a challenge getting any of their heaters to work outside. Food was less than average, mushroom burger was dry and overcooked and had about mushrooms total. Staff seemed irritated if you asked for anything."

"We only had one meal there, breakfast, but it was very good and plenty of it. I had the omelet and my husband had the basic eggs, potatoes, and toast. My omelet was stuffed full of vegies and meats and had a lot of cheese. I couldn 't even finish it and I barely touched the potatoes. We had seating along the edge bar and had a beautiful view if Waikiki Beach. Staff was very nice and attentive. Wish we had tried it for dinner and drinks too. I heard that is highly recommended too. Would definitely recommend it if you are on the area."

"Shores Restaurant is located inside the La Jolla Shores Hotel. It is right on the beach with a beautiful view of the ocean. If you can't find street parking, they have parking in their underground garage, which was easy to find. The restaurant will validate to give you free parking in the first 90 minutes. After that, it's $10 for the next 90 minutes and goes up from there. I think they should validate for 2 hours, like most restaurants do, but that's more of a hotel thing, I think. I made a reservation for 8 of my coworkers for a happy hour get together (they only have actual happy hour deals Monday Thursday and we went on a Friday... oops! and 6 showed up, and most showed up late. No problem! They had a table ready for us on their patio with a view of the ocean. Cherry was our server and she was fantastic! She was attentive and super friendly. I had a passion fruit mule, which was delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed their drinks. For food, some had dinner plans so didn't want to eat too much, others didn't... Cherry and the restaurant were able to accommodate everyone's needs perfectly. Two in the party ordered off the kids menu to get a smaller portion, one ordered the beet salad, one ordered a burger, one the triple decker sandwich (she took half of it home for lunch the next day! , and I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. We also were able to order a side of fries for the table. Everything came out perfectly and everyone was pleased with their orders. I'd love to go back on a weekday (not Friday to experience their actual happy hour. It was a very nice experience, good atmosphere, excellent view we even saw dolphins from our table! I highly recommend this restaurant."
