"The restaurant is beautiful both inside and out. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and offered the choice of Habachi or dine-in. I chose to dine in since it allowed me to write this review a bit more discreetly. However, I did notice an odd aroma in the air when I was escorted to my table; it could have been a lingering cleaning product or something else. It was a little off-putting, but I figured it might be due to the restaurant cleaning up after a busy period, as there were only two or three tables occupied at the time.
My server was prompt in providing menus and taking my drink order. I requested water while I perused the diverse menu offerings. They have a solid selection of dishes, although many appeared to be on the pricier side, setting high expectations for the quality of the food.
I ordered their take on a Long Island Iced Tea, along with a vegetable rice dish and a California Crunch sushi roll. The iced tea was perfect—just the right strength for my taste! However, compared to other Long Island Iced Teas I've had at different restaurants, I found it wasn't as robust for the price. When I pay a premium, I expect the quality to match or exceed my expectations. While it suited my preference, it might not satisfy those who typically enjoy a stronger cocktail with their meal, especially at nearly $10.
On the other hand, the sushi was outstanding! It’s clear that making sushi is one of their specialties, so if you’re in search of quality sushi rolls, this is definitely a spot to consider. The quality matched the price, which I appreciated. Overall, I had a good experience at Kani and would recommend it for sushi lovers!"
