"Worst dining experience ever. We asked to be seated on the lower patio the hostess told us they were bigger tables so we couldn 't sit there seated us on the upper patio. She proceeded to seat no less than 6 couples including the mother daughter who were waiting for a table at the same time we were on the lower patio. When my fiancé asked what was up with that, the hostess walked away slammed her fist on the wall as she was walking inside. Very unprofessional. Our waitress walked away halfway thru us ordering when we finally got our food there was no silverware. The food was mediocre but on a positive note, the male servers ran their butt 's off to get the food out. We will not be returning."

"Food was ok. Salsa and chips not very good. Chips were like, out, out of a bag and set under a warming light. Burritos were ok, ground beef was ok, had a strange flavor that didnt suit us well...not bad at all, just not for us. Very good looking plate though, sour cream, lettuce, everything cooked great. Expected some rice and beans for the entree but got just two burritos, plus the fixin's. Excellent server"

"What a great place to bring the family! I've been here a number of times with my family and whenever family visits it's a must. Very affordable prices and portions are great! Just drove 15 minutes to get their fresh guacamole and chips. I always get double chips. A great snack and honestly the best guacamole out there. Their tacos are authentic and you can't forget desert. We always get the churros, so crispy! Tons of seating, bar and a patio. The built in atmosphere has you looking around the place at all the Mexico themed areas."

"Exercise caution when dining here, particularly if you have food allergies. The menu does not list all ingredients. I have a strawberry allergy, and they added strawberry syrup to my dessert without specifying it. I took one bite and immediately had a reaction. I had to be rushed to the hospital, where they administered medication and kept me under observation for four hours before I was released. Additionally, the photo of the menu online does not display any syrup."

"Oh my wow! These Fish Tacos were the bomb. Cooked perfectly fully loaded. I highly recommend their tomatillo salsa. It's rich spicy flavor was the best I've had in a very long time. The servicer was so helpful in answering our menu questions, keeping drinks refilled and making sure we had everything we needed. High five for that! I can't wait to stop in again to try more of their menu. My husband had the Loco Burito and couldn't eat all of it. He said he especially liked their cheese sauce and refried beans. I enjoyed the two types of salsa chips appetizer. I usually have to add a little salt to the salsa but not from here. It tasted great"

"Mazatlan is the single greatest authentic Mexican restaurant experience in Eastern North Carolina. The food is phenomenal. Everything is cooked, seasoned, and prepared to perfection. It is simply delicious. I cannot get enough of it. Another major benefit to the cuisine is the abundance and quality of the chips and salsa. I have never had better salsa at any other restaurant. The food at this establishment puts all other Mexican food in Greenville to miserable soul-crushing shame. The staff at Mazatlan are charming, courteous, and lovely. The owner Rico, a horse-riding legend in Eastern North Carolina, frequently comes to check on all his guests. His infectious charisma and suave add an authentic flavor to the entire experience that cannot be beat. I could really write an entire book about how much I love Rico and his magnificent restaurant. "Food was good but I've had better at compadres in Painesville. The Vegis in the dishes were overcooked mushy. like they were pre-cooked and sat. The fajita quesadilla is my go-to. I like the fresh sautéed green and red pepper with onions shredded cheese and chicken..there is was thin and looked like my kid made it the taste was okay not bad but not worth a second visit. Compadres were plump and had a crisp bite and the texture was packed full.. Don Tequila had Amazing salsa I'll give them that. The service was a little slow..but they appeared to be understaffed. I'm not gonna give a bad rating because the food was good I've had better and would've chosen a 15-minute drive for taste over just settling because it's close by. "I did some research before visiting a Mexican restaurant and came across this one, so I was eager to give it a try. We started with cheese sauce, but it turned out to be more like soup, which was my first indication that things might not go well. I ordered chimichangas—one with beef and one with chicken—and they were the smallest chimichangas I have ever encountered. After a 25-minute drive to get there, I definitely won't be returning. It might have just been an off day, but I was really not impressed. To make matters worse, there was a hair in the food, although they did address it and removed it from our bill."
