"I've traveled a lot. I've eaten at a lot of restaurants, and specifically at a lot of vegetarian restaurants. I came away from Planta Queen NYC completely blown away. The decor. The food. The presentation. The service. Absolutely everything was beyond my expectations. I personally ordered the spinach dumplings and a poke bowl. I've had dumplings lots of times before, and we even make vegetarian/vegan poke bowls at home. How different could they be? Answer: Amazingly good. Better than most I've ever had before. The dumplings were perfectly steamed, with fresh vegetables inside that retained their crunchiness. And the poke bowl? Beyond my expectations, presented in vivid color and with fantastic flavor. Everyone else in my five-person party was equally pleased and delighted. Everyone came away feeling like this was one of the best meals they had ever had, vegan or not. And the service? Wow. One person in our group asked for the spicy stuff on the side. Another asked for a kind of variation on their normal coffee. The waitress went out of her way to say that she would do whatever needed in order to make us happy, if she could. As someone in our group pointed out, there wasn't any music playing. And the waitress gladly seated us away from other people, so that we could talk without bothering (or being bothered by) others. Yes, it was a bit expensive, but it was 100% worthwhile. A classy place in every way. I cannot wait to return."

"I first visited Pommes Frites with a close Canadian friend from work a couple of years ago, during my first year in the city. We were on a mission to try their poutine, and we were not disappointed. My friend agreed it tasted like the real deal, and it was a great introduction to authentic poutine for me. Located near Washington Square Park, Pommes Frites is as a beloved East Village staple and has a rich history of serving up authentic Belgian-style fries to both locals and tourists. The fries are made fresh, and the service is always friendly. This tiny nook should feature on any must-do food list for NYC. The space combines old-world ambience and decor with an upbeat pop soundtrack (mostly Dua Lipa during my last visit). They’ve also expanded their menu to include fresh smoothies, which is a great addition to balance out the fries and poutine. This time, I tried their Poutine Special, topped with wild mushrooms, roasted garlic, cherry tomatoes, and fresh herbs. Even the regular portion is generous, so if you’re dining solo, be prepared to possibly take some home. Most people swear by their double truffle frites, and love experimenting with the wide array of sauces and toppings they offer here. Whatever you decide, you can’t go wrong! For anyone looking for a satisfying and delicious comfort food experience, Pommes Frites is a must-visit. The combination of simple base menu options, quality ingredients, unique topping- and flavor- combinations, a storied past, and a relaxed atmosphere makes this a standout spot in the city."
