"Before the pandemic, it was perfectly normal to walk into a new restaurant, get a table and settle in for a meal. But in these times you have to consider other things. My girlfriend and I were in Ballard, a few hours from home, when we got hungry. We are vaccinated and wear masks, but eating out is still a risk two friends recently got covid despite being vaccinated and only meeting people outside. We got out our phones and searched for a takeout place. We were more hungry than picky, so we took a suggestion near the top of the list Jai Thai. We drove past Waiting for the Interurban and spotted it on our left. There was a parking spot right around the corner. Things were looking good. The dining room was nearly empty. Pre-pandemic, that would have been a red flag. We decided it was because people were being as cautious as us. In our tired hungry state, we opted.to take advantage of the empty space and got a table. The menu looked good. They had all the usual Thai dishes Phad Thai, Tom Gom soup, Satays, curries... Plus a few lunch specials and house dishes. We chose the number 6 lunch stir fried pork with Phad Thai and Thai iced tea.I went to the men's room. It was clean and properly supplied a good sign. The food came quickly a bad sign. The food was just piled on the plate without any attention to presentation. The rice was over cooked. The phad Thai noodles were clumped together and perhaps the worst sin my 3 star meal had no spice at all. In fact all the flavors were weak.We were hungry, so we are it, then raced out of there disappointed that the food was not even close to being worth the risk of eating out. It's a real shame"

"Were your $5 appetizers $7 on your bill? They swap the menus out so you think the food is cheaper. I ate here June 15 for happy hour. The price was $5 each appetizers on the menu they handed us when we sat down. We waited 15 minutes to order since they wouldn 't honor the happy hour price before 3pm, which is completely fine. We said we were would wait till 3pm to order then to receive the discounted price. Our waitress returned 2 more times in the 15 minutes asking us what we wanted to order and we reminded her we were waiting till 3pm, and asked each time if we could order now and get the happy hour price and she said no because the computer had to catch up. Totally fine with all of that, I didn 't mind waiting. After the we got our bill all the $5 items were $7, we asked why that was. They then gave us the menu that had different prices than previously. The appetizers were now $7. And they said we read it wrong and must have been looking at happy hour 3pm-5pm and thought it said $5. I promise you the menus said $5 because I sat and did the math of how I would spend on lunch, and so did the person I was with. We both saw $5, we both talked about how great of a deal that was. The person I had lunch with actually pointed out that it 's almost happy hour and look they have $5 appetizers. I feel scammed, cheated, and I will never return. Very very sad. Had a cockroach on my plate back when this restaurant was called Thai 65, that was 10 years ago."
