"Strolling on Mission in the Excelsior can be a rather agitating experience especially around bus stops just because waiting passengers remain lodged on the sidewalk to position themselves for seats. This Vietnamese restaurant benefited from this conundrum because my immediate salvation was ducking in here to avoid walking into the busy street. It's certainly not the best reason to come here nor the only one as I saw they had a pretty robust menu of Vietnamese specialty dishes, some familiar, some not. I must've felt adventurous after my bus stop tag game because I ordered something I never had before, the $13 Banh Khot Thit Nuong which was described as veggie mini pancakes with BBQ pork (photo: bit.ly/3uSgFua).They were really greasy dumplings that looked like mini quiches that were dropped in the fryer including the crispy pork. I was supposed to wrap them in lettuce with mint and shredded carrot and cucumber, but I found them unwieldy to handle. I had better luck with the $8 Goi Cuon Tom because fresh spring rolls with shrimp are foolproof (photo: bit.ly/3j4BX5l). Time to dodge the bus stop again.FOOD 3 stars...the spring rolls were fine but those mini pancakes could've caused a grease fireAMBIANCE 3.5 stars...pretty spacious and quite emptySERVICE 3.5 stars...they did their jobsTOTAL 3 stars...maybe I'll walk on the other side of the street next timeRELATED Exploring the Excelsior? Excellent pho broth, i.e. not too loaded up with warm spice… rich and beefy and just salty enough. The grilled pork bahn mi was also quite good, as were the fresh spring rolls. Nice people. Will return! View menu

I got the combination pork bahn mi and was disappointed. It was kind of dry and all I tasted was the fancy pork. This bahn mi was $10 too.. from doordash. The Thai tea was also disappointing. It tasted like watered down tea with no milk and not sweet enough.

We loved everything we ordered, which included fried imperial rolls, fresh spring rolls, banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe), pho ga (chicken pho), beef and pork vermicelli rolls, banh mi, and sauteed beef. The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, reasonably priced, and served in generous portions. We will definitely be back here in the future!!

I ordered from a large pho ga from uber eats. I don't typically expect too much from to-go pho, but the pho from here was still pretty disappointing. The noodles are super soft and soggy, and the broth is basically just normal chicken broth. I had to use a lot of hoisin and sriracha for it to be palatable. Also there was no basil, and the amount of bean sprouts I received is abysmal. On a more positive note: the chicken was tender, and the price/portion sizes are fair. View menu

I heard An Chi had good pho so we had to check it out. We had the pho dac biet and pho ga and felt like there was too little meat and too much cinnamon in the broth. What An Chi does right is the 5 spice chicken rice plate...or should I say turkey leg?? It's a huge piece of chicken full of flavor (and maybe hormones? Lol) The spring rolls are fantastic too- both shrimp and tofu. I can't say much for the service because I've never dined in.The banh mi looks good and reasonably priced, so I'll definitely want to try it next time. Till then...WINNER WINNER 5 SPICE CHICKEN DINNER.

Meh. It 's hard to expect much given the area but I expected more from 4 stars on Yelp with a restaurant with multiple locations. So first off, they 're not Vietnamese. If they are, they put the non-Vietnamese guy at the register (not smart in my opinion but maybe they don 't get many Vietnamese speakers) so when the bf asked for a special in Vietnamese, the guy just kept saying huh? . FOOD:Small portions for the price. Two entrees and egg rolls came out to $43.I went with the lemongrass pork chops over rice with fried shrimp cake. The pork chops were decent but where was the filling for the fried shrimp cake?! The bf ordered a vermicelli bowl and was disappointed. Their fish sauce tasted bla...

"Earlier this year Salty 's was featured in one of the top 100 places to eat in the Bay Area in 2022, and after trying it a couple times, it 's easy to see why. Quality and flavor, great customer service, it checks all those boxes. I occasionally visit the 24 hour fitness on Van Ness, and Salty 's happens to be just few short blocks away which makes it perfect when I 'm looking for a post-workout sandwich. And for those that know me, I love me my sandwiches. On my latest visit, I decided to go with the 'Glorious B sandwich, which come with turkey, bacon, avocado, pepper jack, veggies, and garlic mayo. The blend of flavors and high quality of the turkey is no wonder it 's at the very top of the menu list. It 's one of those sandwiches, that you can bring to park and not need a ton of napkins to get through. It was well put together, with the ratio of all the ingredients matching well. Nothing overpowering, just sandwich perfection. The size of the sandwich I thought was the perfect size for my appetite. As I 've gotten older I can 't put down as much food as I used to, and after one-half I knew I could 've stopped eating, be content, saved the rest for later. But of course I ate the whole thing and nothing sounds better than taking a quick power nap right after. I love that their menu has so many different sandwich combinations, so definitely take time to check their menu before calling-in/walking-in to order because it 'll definitely save you some time. On my latest visit, I was in and out in 10 minutes. Definitely towards the top of my list of sandwiches in this part of town!"
