"Amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, this humble Vietnamese bistro sits comfortably, like a beacon of culinary simplicity and authenticity. Nestled in the corner of a busy street, its modest demeanor cloaks a dining experience brimming with unpretentious quality and warmth. The star of their menu, the bánh mì, is a testament to the beauty of simplicity. Recently, however, I was compelled to try the sizzling beef, which was an absolute delight. The beef, expertly prepared, melted in my mouth – a joyous celebration of simplicity and robust flavors that speaks volumes about the kitchen's commitment to crafting unassuming yet satisfying dishes. The servers contribute significantly to the restaurant's charm. Their supportiveness, attentiveness, and warm demeanor echo the very qualities that make this establishment a beloved dining spot. Their service is an ode to the beauty of the everyday it's a simple, but essential harmony in the composition of the dining experience. While the restaurant may seem like just another eatery on a busy street, it offers a welcoming refuge that's akin to returning home. It's the perfect spot to wind down after work, to simply sit and relish the comfort of good food and a convivial atmosphere. It embodies the charm of the familiar, a pleasure that's often overlooked in the pursuit of the novel. In summary, this restaurant is a treasure for those seeking solace in the form of homely, heart warming cuisine. Its charm lies in its simplicity, offering a gastronomic experience that's comforting and gratifying. It's a welcoming corner of culinary pleasure that calls one back time and again, truly a testament to the joy of simple, everyday dining. Highly recommended!"

This place is so good, I love getting their grilled beef Banh mi, definitely get it! I usually get it to go and it only takes 15 minutes. Be aware they’re closed on Wednesday’s.

Great food, best banh mi I've ever had. Strawberry smoothie was also delicious. Friendly staff. You always know it's going to be good when you walk in and it smells amazing. Very affordable as well.Food: 5/5 View menu

Biggest banh mi sandwich ever. Really yummy and only $7.95. Clean tables and really nice servers. Restroom is a little old and dirty when I went to wash my hands. Lots of free parking in the back. Fresh veggies and perfect French bread. Their taro chip was delicious too. Egg rolls were good.

Got this delivered to me so can't speak to actually eating at the restaurant. Got the chicken banh mi.It was filled to the brim with really tender and flavorful chicken and veggies. The veggies were also crunchy and not too sweet which some pickled veggies at other places can be.The only downside for me was the bread, which is a pretty critical component of banh mi. Not crunchy at all. Just soft, even the crust. View menu

Super cute restaurant with a hipster type feel. We ordered a vermicelli bowl and the sizzling shaken beef to share and both were delicious. We also ordered a Thai tea and Viet iced coffee with boba. Service was great, the younger girls were really nice and made sure we were good at all time. Will definitely be back to try other items. The restaurant is a bit tricky to find. I recommend parking on the back side in the parking lot and not on the main road, even though that's the side where the restaurant is located.

I ordered grilled pork banh mi and grilled lemongrass beef with vermicelli, along with side order of egg rolls yes, all for me as dine in for lunch.Beef was way better than the pork. Beef had lots of flavor with lemon grass and green onions, grilled and still juicy in my big bowl of noodles, which was a decent size. it came with pickled carrots, jicama, cucumber, bean sprouts, lettuce, and fish sauce. (It would have been better with crushed peanuts and if fried eggrolls came with the meal already; you pay an extra $1.50 for an eggroll, but I ordered a side of 4 anyway).Grilled pork was good but missing a little in flavor or char, but the sandwich was a really good size as you can see by my p...

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
