"Review for Sal Vitale's Italian Restaurant And Pizzeria During a Sunday drive, we ended up in Muscatine and decided to try Sal Vitale's Italian Restaurant And Pizzeria based on the excellent reviews. We were not disappointed! The restaurant offers great, authentic Italian cuisine. Both of us opted for a calzone, and the homemade crust was absolutely delicious and flavorful. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the owner even took the time to chat with us about our meal. This personal touch made the experience even more special. The enticing aromas of other dishes being served have us eager to return. We are more than willing to make the hour and a half drive again in the future to try something different from their menu. Highly recommend!"

"That evening, we were promptly seated by a wonderfully cheerful waitress who quickly took our drink and appetizer orders and brought them out without delay. When it was time to choose our main courses, my son urged me to go first as it was my birthday. The waitress then realized it was a special occasion and wished me a happy birthday. We ordered all of our favorite dishes: calamari, chicken Nicola, and shrimp scampi—one with mushrooms and one without. Our salads and garlic rolls arrived almost immediately, and the timing was perfect; our main courses came out just as we finished our appetizers. Everything was absolutely delicious, with generous portion sizes. Our waitress was attentive yet unobtrusive, always checking to see if we needed anything. After we were done, she brought us our to-go containers and surprised me with a beautifully decorated plate of limoncello crème cake drizzled with caramel. She said, “Tonight, desserts are on us; happy birthday!” I was genuinely surprised—it's rare to find restaurants that do this these days. It was truly divine, and I'm so thankful to have such an incredible place in Muscatine. You all did a fantastic job! Thank you for making my evening so special."

"Tiny little Italian place in downtown Muscatine. Close to the river. AC was struggling. But it was one of the hottest days of the year. House salad is just iceberg lettuce and a small dash of cheese with whatever dressing you want. Salads took really long time to come out. Then the entrees came out almost immediately following. Seafood Estella was good. Was supposed to be linguini but was fettuccine pasta. Which didn’t really bother me but thought I’d mention it. The shrimp in the dish is made perfectly and we’re big. The shredded imitation crab was ok. I’d prefer that in chunks. Table mates got the baked ziti. They said it was good. And a good size portion for them. This place is very small. Please take that into account. Felt very New York City like. But might be claustrophobic for some. The table fit four but it was tight. And the tables are close together. Prices are fair. Oh and they brought three rolls for a table of four. Just odd. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3"

"Staff laughed at me for not knowing the breaded tenderloin sandwich with mozzarella cheese was the pizza burger. No, I didn 't think I was getting a pizza. But I did assume it would have more to it. Not sure if it was good or not beyond the first bite, hearing them repeat she thought it was a pizza, oh my god to the rest of the staff kind of killed my appetite."

"What a delightful meal and experience! Exceeded all my expectations. First time but it will not be our last. The Merrill Hotel where this is located was also exceptional. Certainly worth the 2 hour drive. We will be back! Husband had the short ribs and I had the grouper both were wonderful. Lovely servers at dinner and breakfast, which also was great. He had the steak and eggs which included a small filet cooked perfectly. I had a terrific fluffy omelet. Love this place. Could not be happier."
