"The Dairy Queen in Nags Head has a very unfriendly atmosphere. When I asked the clerk if I could give my phone number for points, she simply said no. I explained it was for a loyalty program, and she replied that they don’t do that here. I thought she was joking at first. The ice cream was decent, but the chocolate dip had a waxy texture and didn’t taste like chocolate at all. While I was enjoying my ice cream, an older gentleman, probably around 80 years old, approached a window and stood there for about 3 to 4 minutes without anyone offering assistance. There were several staff members present, yet no one attended to him. I suggested he try one of the last two windows where someone might help him, and he nodded gratefully but seemed hesitant. Based on this experience, I won’t be returning to this location; I can simply get my ice cream at the grocery store."

Fantastic spot for freshly cooked food! We had some hungry people in the car, and our $94 order arrived hot, fresh, and complete. I was really impressed!

We showed up a few minutes before closing. But they said the grill was still on. They made us a few fish sandwiches that tasted great. The staff did a great job. Thank you

Dairy Queen is a great spot for ice cream. It's definitely one of the nicer Dairy Queens I’ve visited. Despite how busy they were, the service was surprisingly quick. The menu offers a fantastic selection as well.

The owner encourages customers to pay card rather than cash: does not take Apple Pay. Advertise a $2,39 bottle of water and make customers pay it $3,49. Got my $1,10 back thanks to the rather angry manager ?it will be $3 when you come back?. Good I neverwill! View menu

Fantastic experience! I absolutely loved the cherry chip Blizzard. The vanilla cones were fresh and tasty, while the vanilla milkshake was delightful. The Mountain Dew had just the right balance. The drive-thru moved swiftly, and the exterior was clean. There were plenty of places to sit, and the customer service was excellent. I will definitely return!

Tourist prices are back, and it's tough for us locals. Two large chocolate shakes with extra chocolate and whipped cream cost $18 now—up from $12 during the fall and winter. I really can't afford to dine out during tourist season. The chicken strips are decent, but they skimp on the ranch dressing, even when I pay for extra. I usually only get one or maybe two containers. To be honest, you might be better off at McDonald's. However, Victoria, who works at DQ, is exceptional. I go there specifically for the shakes—they're the best in town!

"I never actually ate here, but let me tell you, that was probably for the best. My experience with Kill Devil Grill started with me trying to order food online. Silly me, I thought that would be a straightforward process. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t. After fighting with their broken online system, I decided to give them a call. You know, like people used to do in the dark ages before the internet. I was on hold for a while, but hey, I figured they were busy whipping up some delicious food. How naive of me. When I finally got through to the host, I explained my situation, expecting at least a smidge of empathy or, I don’t know, a willingness to help. Instead, I was hit with a line that’s going to be etched in my memory forever: The kitchen said no. This was after they asked, how many things are you going to order? Really? No. Just... no. No explanation, no apology, no attempt to even pretend like they cared. Apparently, asking to place an order over the phone was too much for them to handle. I mean, how dare I want to give them money in exchange for food? The nerve! Look, I’ve dealt with bad service before, but this was a whole new level of ridiculous. The fact that they couldn’t even be bothered to take an order says everything you need to know about this place. Customer service? What’s that? The people running this joint clearly have no clue. Honestly, I’m relieved I didn’t actually get to try their food. If their service is this bad, I can only imagine what the kitchen is like. Maybe the kitchen didn’t say no —maybe it was trying to warn me. In any case, I’ve taken the hint. I won’t be bothering Kill Devil Grill with my pesky orders again. If you value your time, money, or basic human decency, do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place."
