"First time trying El Maguey. Our daughter had tried it before and suggested we do as well. For the 3 of us we ordered 2 orders taquitos (5 ala cart), an adobada taco and a carnitas taco. They were very accommodating when we asked for guacamole and sour cream on the side and both the red and green salsa. The tacos are huge, not street tacos. Both were very tasty and meat tender. The taquitos are very crisp, not greasy. The prices are very reasonable. We found street parking easily and it's in a nice quiet neighborhood. Definitely rates a return visit."

I believe they are now located in the new Federal Courthouse.

This location (across the street from Sharp) is no longer in business. I visited today, September 10, 2021.

I love their bean and cheese burritos here. The carne asada has a very distinct taste. It's a takeout window so it works great during these times of lockdown. View menu

The owner of the business has always been dishonest. It's disappointing to hear this about El Maguey and Jose Valencia. I would advise against eating food that is not clean.

This tacoshop no longer exists. El Maguey was evicted. They were dirty, stole everything they could and ran out without paying their bills. They used to store the food they served in buckets in a refrigerator that they didn’t even work. Shame on Maguey.

Their fish burrito is THE best I’ve ever had. Everybody gets the fish burrito wrong but them. They make it like a fish taco, but burrito sized. As opposed to typical burrito ingredients with fish as the protein that doesn’t work that wel. They are genius!!! View menu

Shame on El Maguey de Cotija. They lied to the community about what was really going on. They didn't pay their bills and ran out like thieves, stealing everything they could (even the lightbulbs) and not cleaning up after themselves. Pictures prove everything, message me for the truth.

I stumbled upon this spot driving through the area and always said to myself I'd go back... finally made it and so glad I did! After chatting with the gentleman working he recommended the el maguey burrito which was a massive burrito and I added rice and beans inside which made it extra filling and delicious! Their menu is huge so I really think there's something for everyone. It's just a small spot, with some seating outside, no fuss no frills but great food! I'll be going back soon for more!

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
