"There are so many reasons Estrellita has been in business since 1958. As long term residence of the area, we are very familiar with the varieties and quality of Mexican restaurants. most of them seem to just phone it in, but not Estrellita. We have not been to this restaurant for three years (Covid) and feared for the worst when we returned. we need not have worried for the place is as fresh and bright and the food is as unique and as high-quality as ever. For example, the Cochinita Pibil a Mayan dish from Yucatán, turned out to be flavor, full and savory! I had a Chile Riano made out of a fresh poblano chili and wonderful cheese with delicious sliced tomatoe on top. You won’t find a speck of grease on anything, not even the home cooked, fresh tortilla chips. Tgey have other wonderful regional dishes that you will want to try and they always feature specials, including at least something from a region such as Oaxaca. If you want extraordinary Mexican food, this is your place."

A gem of a place, they have a terrific assortment of food and wonderful chips and salsa. I particularly enjoy the homemade Molé poblano and the pineapple mint Mojito. View menu

Very nice cozy decor inside the restaurant. Very colorful. Service was really good. We ordered mango guac, veggie quesadilla and stuffed chilli. All the food were simple and tasty. Will visit again!

We've eaten here a number of times. The quality of the food is great. I usually get the combination plate or a burrito. My daughter loves the Oaxacan chicken. Their salsa served with chips is among the best. The prices for dinner are lower than most upscale Mexican restaurants. The atmosphere is family friendly but the music can be a bit loud. The staff is always friendly. View menu

Surprisingly good food!! I came here because viva del sol is closed for lunches during the weekdays. The chips and salsa were a bit boring but the entrees were delicious and huge. I got a guava margarita that was also really well balanced. The place was really dead on a Thursday for lunch but I hope that they get more customers in for dinner! The outside sitting was nice for a warm summer day.

The food here is amazing! I would give 10 stars if I could. They have a selection of authentic dishes (first 5 under specials) as well. The staff were fabulous- great recommendations and made sure we had everything needed. Great bar and selection of drinks (especially matgaritas)margaritas. Very clean inside and out. Option of patio seating as well. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back next time we are in town!

"We visited the Los Alamitos location this trip for late lunch, early dinner. My husband got an All American Beach Melt. It was a full pound cheeseburger on grilled Parmesan Sour Dough. He was delightfully overwhelmed! I decided to try the prime rib dinner because the prime rib dip is out of this world! I was extremely disappointed! The meat was cold and flavorless. The aujus again had no flavor. The creamy horseradish could have been sour cream, and it has absolutely no flavor at all, no zing. Our waitress was sweet but disappointing. All of our food came to the table at the same time. Our appetizer actually arrived after our entree plates. Our waitress did a vanishing act. She did not once return to the table. Our water and tea cups sat empty throughout our meal. Other servers took care of the tables to our right, and to our left, we remained completely ignored. After finishing our meals, we sat for about 15 20 minutes with my husband, trying to get anyone to pay attention to even our empty glasses. Finally, it appeared to be someone in management who asked if we were waiting for boxes. My husband told her we 'd like a check AND boxes so we can leave. She brought our check and 3 boxes, no questions or comments. My husband paid in cash, and she said, I 'll see you next time. He commented. There won 't be a next time. We enjoy the Foothill Ranch location, a much friendlier environment. Today 's lesson learned is that it was not a good idea to order steak at a sandwich shop."

"Our first visit to the restaurant last night came highly recommended, thanks to a friend's glowing review of their vegan menu. We were pretty excited and ordered two vegan meatball subs. The trouble began when we waited for nearly 25 minutes after placing our order. Our server, a guy named Ryan (I think), came over and told us they were all out of vegan meatballs. Naturally, we asked why it took so long for them to figure this out, which seemed to fluster poor Ryan a bit. However, he was polite throughout the conversation. We decided to switch our order to one regular meatball sub and a vegan eggplant sub, thinking all was well. But, surprise, surprise, Ryan returned a few minutes later to tell us they were also out of eggplant. At this point, we had been waiting for almost 40 minutes with no food in sight, so we asked for the check to pay for the soda my husband had been nursing. Here's why the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths: 1. Why in the world didn't the waitstaff know about these shortages in advance? It seems like basic communication within the restaurant was seriously lacking. Customers shouldn't be left hanging, wondering if they'll actually get what they ordered. 2. It's kind of baffling that Ryan was left to break the bad news not just once, but twice. You'd think the manager, who we saw chatting with other diners just a few feet away, would have taken the initiative to come over and speak to us directly. 3. I was made to feel like I should be really grateful they decided not to charge us for the Diet Coke my husband drank. Overall it was a terrible experience and no effort was made to rectify what happened. I obviously cannot comment on the food since we never recieved any. As for customer service...HORRIBLE!"
