"I 'm not a sushi fan, in fact I 've never really had real sushi except from Trader Joe 's..and that 's only if you consider to call that sushi. I was a bit skeptical going to a sushi grill, but I figured, why not try something new. Nice little cozy place with a great atmosphere. Service was super friendly and fast. We sat in a booth and the owner popped in to say Hi to everyone. I could tell he was a favorite among the locals. Super nice guy. For starters, we tried the bacon wrapped tuna skewers. WOW....That Tuna was amaZing. If that was raw fish...I 'm in love. It just melted in your mouth. It was SOOSoososooo good! Even my super picky daughter loved the tuna. We also tried this marinated sable fish. It was really good, but that tuna was to die for. SO GOOD! I then wanted to try the Vegetarian Nature nugget with cucumber, avocado, sweet bell pepper, asparagus and hemp hearts. Very simple, nice and fresh. My hubby ordered the Bruce Lee. An extra spicy salmon roll. Fried tempura and topped with scallions, roasted jalapenos peppers and sriracha sauce. Wow..that was really good! Super creamy! We also ordered the Vegetarian Tree Hugger. Marinated tempeh, pickled bell peppers and asparagus, topped with advacodo and organic hemp hearts. Really fresh and good. I must say, I enjoyed the sushi more than I thought I would. I could eat that again. My daughter ordered the Pacific cheese burger with a homemade wasabi bun. She loved it. I admit.... I had a small bite. WOW...that had some awesome flavor! really full of NOM. SoOOOooO yeah, we ended our day with a good ending. Sushi is now one of my favorites, beside Lebanese food. :P Thank you for the great experience! I will be back!!!"

"Great food. After moving from the SF Bay Area to Brookings last year, our biggest disappointment is the total lack of fine restaurants. And when I say fine food I mean FRESH, high-quality ingredients, from scratches...view to detail...view of EVERY detail... We arrived shortly before the conclusion in Black Trumpet Bistro. We were warmly welcomed by 2 ZWEI! various employees. As in: A big smile and you can sit anywhere. You thought we were the first customers in the evening. I do a big thing about it because I just can't stand when a restaurant is closed and served at the same time. You know... bad service, silvered cutlery, waiter can't wait to go home... On my review: The Focaccia bread is as good as it gets. Homemade, warm and fresh. with infused olive oil and balsamico vinegar. Sooo good. I ordered the pork stall with Polnta, which was delicious. It came with freshly cooked spinach....yum... I had a glass of Chardonnay. The service was excellent and continued during our meal. My husband had the Chicken Marsala, which was also excellent. It came with fresh green beans that were perfectly cooked yet a little crisp and not overcooked We ended our evening with the Tiramisu, which was fantastic. Prices are reasonable. We had the special pleasure to meet the owners Rob and Kylie this time. They are unbelievable on Earth and only really nice people. I think they put their heart and soul in black trumpet. This is the best food in Brookings. Rob and Kylie seem to know the secret of success in the DETAILS. The food, service and ambience is wonderful. Unpredictable. There is no doubt that we will be back."
