"If you haven't had the chance to try a Bruin Burger with onion rings, you're truly missing out on an amazing experience. Derek and Nina do a fantastic job managing the restaurant. I took my 10-year-old granddaughter there, and she enjoyed a pizza while we watched the MS State football game together. She had a great time bonding with her granddad and mentioned that the pizza was excellent. We dined in for dinner, and the cost was around $10–20 per person."

The food is exceptional, but the owner/manager has a somewhat stern attitude.

I was looking forward to dinner, but when I got there, I was greeted by an empty, abandoned building.

The food is generally enjoyable, but the prices are quite steep. It feels like every additional charge catches you off guard. View menu

Y’all! Just had the Sunday lunch special for St. Patrick’s Day—cabbage rolls, potatoes, stewed cabbage, roll and cake. Delicious! The cabbage rolls are just like we used to make. Highly recommend. Service: Takeaway Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Delicious food and excellent service! I dined in for dinner, and the price per person was between $30 and $50. The food quality was exceptional, earning a 5-star rating, and the service was equally impressive, also a 5-star experience. The atmosphere was inviting, deserving another 5 stars. I highly recommend the Shrimp PO Boy, Seafood Platter, Fried Catfish Platter with Onion Rings, Grilled Shrimp Salad, and the Hand-Battered Onion Rings.

"We recently visited St. Joe and were on the lookout for vegan options, and this restaurant was one of the few that had a dedicated vegan menu. Firstly, the positives: the staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We really enjoyed the vibe, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars. Now, onto the less favorable aspects. Although the restaurant has a vegan menu, I was surprised to find out that they don’t offer any plant-based milk for coffee. This felt quite unusual since even many of my meat-eating friends prefer plant milk in their coffee nowadays; it’s rare to come across a place that only serves dairy options in 2022. As for the food, we tried the vegan shepherd’s pie and the vegan curry, along with split pea soup and hummus with pita as sides. Unfortunately, I had to send the shepherd’s pie back to the kitchen because it was cold in the middle. While I enjoyed the split pea soup and found the curry quite nice, the rice that accompanied the curry was dry, and the pita served with the hummus was also cold, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the food just didn’t quite hit the mark. Perhaps it’s because we come from an area with a wide variety of vegan choices, but despite arriving hungry, we ended up leaving more than half of our meal untouched. I usually finish my plate, but this time we didn’t even ask for a box to take our leftovers back to the Airbnb. In summary, the staff and atmosphere were wonderful, but the vegan food leaves room for improvement. I also strongly suggest they start offering plant-based milks for coffee."

"We arrived shortly after 7 p.m. and immediately overheard one of the staff engaged in a conversation filled with extremely foul language, which was quite off-putting for a first impression of a restaurant. After a few minutes, we were finally seated, but then we felt completely forgotten. It took over 40 minutes before a waitress came to take our drink order, and we quickly decided to order our food at the same time. The wait for our food was equally long, taking another 35 to 40 minutes. I ordered the Simon sandwich with french fries. Unfortunately, it was drenched in so much barbecue sauce that it soaked through the bread and made it nearly impossible to enjoy. The roast beef was stringy and tough; every bite resulted in half the filling falling out, making it hard to chew. In the past, I have ordered that sandwich dozens of times and always considered it one of the best in St. Joseph, but tonight it was barely edible. I ended up leaving a quarter of the sandwich and quite a few of the french fries on my plate. The fries were overly greasy and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. After we placed our food order, we didn't see our waitress again, so there were no drink refills, and we weren't even asked if we wanted dessert. This was certainly not the experience I wanted my friend to have at a restaurant I used to cherish. I have no plans to return anytime soon."
