"Reviews like this are tough to write. There is so potential, but I 'm doubtful things will change as the business has been open for many years. I got a set in our ways vibe . This once bustling shopping center, has turned into a desolate area. I wouldn 't be surprised to see tumbleweeds. The entrance itself, is grand. You walk up a few steps to see patio seating on either sides of the entry doors. They also have a ramp for handicap needs. My first issue was the specials board placed outside. Instead of reading specials, or welcoming you into the establishment, it 's simply states to not leave valuables in your car. Not a warm and fuzzy feeling. We went for an early dinner on this particular day, so it was not busy. Only one other table of two were in the restaurant. We were immediately greeted and seated by our waiter. He was extremely friendly, attentive, and helped with suggestions from the menu. He told us he had been there 29 years. The space itself has so much potential. There 's a beautiful mural of old world Italy on a large wall. The lighting is low and intimate. They have decorative wine cellars separating the bar area from the regular eating space. Unfortunately, boxes stacked behind a high backed booth seating area on the opposite corner of the restaurant, took away from the beautiful mural. It was definitely a storage area for wine boxes. As we waited for our drink orders to arrive, I noticed the music did not fit the environment. Britney Spears, Huey Lewis, Maroon 5, and other pop artists played overhead. I would expect an Italian restaurant to have more themed music. Sounds of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin would have been very welcomed. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. They were very good. They were large and had a tasty cream sauce. Four to a plate, which was perfect to split between the two of us. While we talked and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine, we looked over the menu and decided to ask our server for suggestions. He was very helpful. He suggested the Chicken Jerusalem for me since I was in the mood for a creamier sauce. Turns out, there was both cream sauce and marinara sauce, so I got the best of both worlds. The food itself was pretty good. The garlic bread was the best. For my aunt and I to dine that evening, the bill was $161 before tip. This was three glasses of wine for each of us an appetizer, our meal, an order of garlic bread, and one tiramisu. I felt the prices were a little high. My aunt had a steak which was $35 by itself. She did not feel it was that great, so at least my meal was better than hers. Before leaving, I headed to the restroom to check out that space. Ceiling tiles were removed and wires exposed, there was trash on the floor, the toilet was not solidly positioned to the floor, and the countertops were littered with debris and extra water. It 's such a shame to have great service and decent food, but have it ruined for things like music and atmosphere. My hope is for someone to see this review and tweak a few things that would be beneficial for their business. Unfortunately, unless I hear things have changed, I will not return. we still tipped our waiter 20%. Like I said, he was a good waiter. Maybe the restaurant is just a little too complacent."

This is my spot!! Love their food. I got my regular go to's. Crab claws and shrimp scampi. I actually learned something new, they also have olive oil and balsamic vinegar for the bread per your request. The service is always amazing. Small restaurants where they care about their customers.

Terrible service they steal money when it comes to tip. Not recommended. 20-24% tip included for a terrible service, without any notice anywhere. I do not consent. Food isn't terrible, but not the freshest and they serve main dish and appetizer together. Bad service, again. Most terrible wait staff.

I recently ordered the Margarita pizza to go from Fornos Pizza, and it was fantastic! The crust was light and crispy, and the tomato sauce was perfectly balanced with the basil and cheese--not dry at all. I could have easily eaten the whole thing! The restaurant has a quaint Italian vibe with a nice selection of wines. It would be a great spot for a party of about 40 people. Highly recommend! View menu

I ordered the Cannelloni here tonight. It's my favorite dish here with the Angel Hair with Meat Sauce coming right after it. It was very delicious, flavorful in numerous ways and comforting. The pasta was very fresh and soft. The cream sauce was savory, rich and tasty. The red sauce was very tasty, runny and had a great bell pepper taste to it. The ground chicken n spinach filling was also very tasty and paired well with everything. Great, friendly service as well.

Great little restaurant, hidden in a strip center. The service was outstanding, and from the looks of it, their wine selection would not disappoint, I was not drinking. Loved the Caesar salad. Their rolls were fresh a d will get you in trouble. Nice hard crust on the outside with a light fluffy center. I appreciate the side veggies with the chicken parm. The servings weren't too little or over the top. From the looks of my crew-mates that ordered dessert they did not disappoint either.

My family and I had dinner with friends on a Tuesday evening. This was our first time at Fornos of Italy. It was extremely quiet inside, with one patron at the bar, so any conversation could be heard throughout the restaurant. After nibbling on the appetizer bread, we heard Christmas music begin to play on the loudspeakers, which warmed up the atmosphere. As it got later, more people entered and Fornos livened up. I decided to order the spaghetti and meatballs as a test of the Italian cuisine they served. After all, it is a classic dish. I am sad to report I was not impressed since my pasta and meatballs, while tasting alright, reminded me of food that was from the frozen foods section of a... View menu

I've been here a few times and can't understand why it's never busy. This little diamond is hidden in the back and their food is so great! Honestly I do love knowing when I come it's peaceful and quiet so I can enjoy some alone time however, it makes me wonder how they survive. Complimentary bread is soft in the middle and slightly crunchy on the outside and their butter melts onto the bread nicely. Favorite dish here is pasta al forno (fettuccini with Alfredo of course end chicken, peas and mushrooms) much better than Olive Garden and they have a great selection of wines. Mostly by the bottle. If you're on a first date and want some quiet to get to know your date there's no distractions her...

Fornos is located on Westheimer but not directly as it's about 100 yards set back in a large shopping center. Once you get there parking is plentiful. The restaurant has covered outside seating along with indoor seating too. Inside there is a large dining room on the left and then a bar area with tables for dining and the two areas are separated by numerous wine racks. It's an unusual arrangement that I think looks awkward. By its appearance, Fornos seems to be a restaurant that specializes in wine and has a lot of it. My first visit was for lunch and I ordered pescatore dI mare for $20. First to arrive was a complimentary bread basket consisting of two large and warm rolls with butter. The...

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
