"The good: The food was excellent, no complaints at all. It was served quickly and our server was very friendly. I enjoyed watching their young children assisting with tasks at the front of the restaurant. The prices were also reasonable. Needs improvement: Our server was incredibly slow, although friendly. We had to flag her down every time we needed something, such as ordering, getting drink refills, or paying our bill. It was disappointing, especially since it wasn't busy and there were multiple employees working. Sitting at the bar allowed me to see food preparation, where I noticed some unsafe handling practices. There were also fruit flies present, which was concerning. As a certified ServSafe Manager, I am trained in food safety practices and was disappointed by what I observed. Despite the good food and nice staff, the food handling issues make me hesitant to return. I would have rated it 4 stars if not for these concerns, but I am being generous and giving it 3 stars."

I have been a loyal customer at this restaurant for many years and it's my favorite spot to dine in town. I absolutely adore their sushi rolls, fresh sashimi, flavorful ramen, and delicious vegetable tempura. The service is always friendly and efficient. I love dining in and also getting their tasty food to take away.

You have to try to coconut roll so good they have added the to the menu! All rolls are outstanding we have had rolls and sushi all over the USA and abroad and this is the best place north of Minneapolis get thee early because they can get busy. On the last trip meet people coming from Duluth and Hibbing just to eat there.

Diamond in the ruff! Big city quality sushi in small town Grand Rapids, MN. A must stop AND try. Very comparable to metro sushi with a full blown Menu and nice wine. This is a must try! We will be back. Well worth the stop!! We had the junky monkey, earthquake and king lobster roll. We also had app seafood soup which was amazingly good and fried calamari. Charming restaurant. My husband and I visited the area from Duluth, MN and were excited to find a sushi place nearby. We tried a couple of the chef's rolls, but were disappointed to find that one of them listed tobiko on the menu but did not actually contain any. When we asked the waitress about it, she initially said they didn't have tobiko. However, she then explained that they had stopped including it because customers didn't like it. We had chosen that roll specifically because it was one of the few with tobiko listed as an ingredient. The sushi itself was tasty, but the interaction with the waitress left us feeling a bit put off.

This place is a small spot. I was a little iffy at first when we walked in. Was up in the area for work and we happened to find this spot. For my surprise.... the sashimi actually tasted pretty darn good for a sushi spot up here in the northern area lol. Had no fishy smell no nothing. Nice thick cut, Wasabi was strong, ginger tasted fresh. Of course I ate every single veggie on the tray!. The shumai,gyoza, and grilled squid tasted good. It was like any other sushi spot I have been to. I was mainly there for the sashimi anyway and I approve!. I don't do rolls, so you'll have to try that out yourself. Oh..... we are going back again haha
