"Our experience at Gema's in Beatty was truly the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed delicious, authentic Mexican home-cooked meals prepared from scratch by the waiter/owner's grandmother. The real treat, however, was the engaging conversation we had with Manuel, the owner, and a local resident. They shared interesting stories about the town and its residents, giving us a glimpse into the community. Manuel even went out of his way to accommodate our breakfast request for an egg white omelette, which another establishment had refused to make. The next morning, we returned to Gema's and not only did I get my omelette, but Manuel also made the best dry cappuccino I've ever had. It was clear that he had a passion for coffee, as evidenced by the extensive variety listed on the menu. Manuel mentioned his plans to open a cafe in the area, while his grandmother would continue to cook at Gema's. We wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors."

"After driving the long interminable hot desert road down US 95, Mel's Diner was a welcomed sight and a nice break from the monotony of driving.It serves the usual diner stuff and found the food to be good and served with good cheer, even when the waitress was busy with a lot of customers.It's a great joint, spartan, but nonetheless, a part of Americana on a lonely two lane road in the middle of nowhere.Watch out for them wild burros running around town."

"I ordered a Swiss Mushroom Burger, while my husband chose the Teriyaki Burger with BBQ sauce. Both came with fries and were served with onion, pickle, tomato, and lettuce on the side, along with condiments in a handy caddy for us to use as we pleased. The burgers were handmade, though the fries were rather sparse, and we both opted for sodas. The bartender and cook were friendly, but once our food was ordered, we weren’t checked on again. We both finished our sodas before our meals arrived, and no one offered to refill them. My husband ended up getting one for himself from the cooler. The condiment caddy was missing ketchup and mayo, leaving my burger dry and my fries without anything to dip in. The food was decent, but the dryness of the burger was a downside. I overheard the cook mention to another couple that the previous night had been busy, so I’m not sure if this was just an off night. Overall, we found the other restaurant we had tried to go to packed, so we decided to give Sourdough Saloon a shot. While it’s not my first choice for dining, I might consider ordering takeaway from here if I were staying in Beatty, or I’d recommend it to someone who enjoys sitting at a bar and wants to explore a wide variety of beers."

"The expansive ambiance may draw in customers, but they may end up disappointed not just once, but twice due to the service and the quality of the coffee. The coffee has a stale taste and is pricier than expected. The staff do not appear to be happy. This negative experience has dissuaded me from returning for a third time. However, on a positive note, the decor and the outdoor terrace are both very stunning. I recommend trying a cold coffee from the refrigerators."

"After working for Subway for a few years I thought I would have had the patience and understanding for the service of the employees here, however I have never had such a terrible experience at any fast food place.Jacob and his colleague that was not wearing a name tag felt the need to make their 9 to 5 sandwich-making job into a comedy gig and spend an outrageous amount of time continually throwing out ridiculous sarcastic comments and refusing to continue with the order until they got some sort of response out of us. There were multiple comments that were completely inappropriate for a work setting, including swearing and stereotypical jokes.After waiting in line, and then suffering through their grueling performance I was presented with a $42 bill for two footlongs and a wrap. That's right, 2 non-premium sandwiches (Subway Clubs) and a tortilla with some meat/veggies the size of a 6-inch sub, no extras, no chips, no drinks, no $2 avocado add-on's came out to $42 dollars.I will never step foot in a Subway again after this, and I will be very sure to pack a lunch and make sure I have enough gas to completely avoid this location at all costs on my next road trip."
