"It was easy to find street parking on a Tuesday evening. Ambience: spacious, clean and cozy. Was not crowded at all. We got shorwa and shornakhod for starters and they were fine but nothing too special. For entree we got kabuli pallow and chicken kabob and they were both very flavorful. The meat in the pallow was tender and juicy. The chicken kabob was very well made as well. Would definitely recommend both. For dessert we got fereny and jaala vanilla ice cream and we really loved them both. Service was slow and poor, hence would rate the overall experience as 3.5-4 stars. still not a bad option for some good afghani food. #afghancuisine #kabuli"

Wow. I have had 3 different meals here in last 10 days. 2 to go orders and a dine in. Absolutely wonderful each time. Clean, quick, high quality ingredients, and good service are some attributes of this place.

I absolutely enjoy visiting this restaurant for lunch with my wife. The portion sizes are generous, the food is incredibly delicious, and the prices are reasonable. It's definitely worth the trip, even if you're not in the Hopkins area.

A surprising vegetarian gem! The vegetables and rice were expertly seasoned, offering a delightful combination of flavors. The sweet turnips provided a great balance to the spicy mushrooms and peas. I truly wish we lived in Baltimore so we could enjoy their dishes again! View menu

The food was tasty but they left the drink out of my pickup order. I had to go back and was told they didn't carry that drink even though it was on the menu. So why didn't they tell me when I came the first time? They couldn't be bothered. With that attitude they don't deserve to have customers.Food: 4/5

So happy to have a small version of The Helmand near my workplace! The food is awesome. My favorites are the pumpkin appetizer (Kaddo Borani) and the rice bowl with lamb (Kabuli Pallow). The potatoe chickpea salad (Shornakhod) is super tasty and you get a big portion for a small price. Prices in general are lower than at the main restaurant on Charles Street. It can get busy during lunch hours, so make sure you get there before 12:30. I highly recommend this place!

If you live nearby or work at Johns Hopkins Hospital, you absolutely must try Helmand Kabobi Cafe! This Charles Street spot carries on the legacy of the original Helmand, and the food here is truly exceptional. If you’ve never tried Afghan cuisine or worry it might be too spicy, don’t be afraid. Vegetarians and vegans are also well accommodated. The dishes are perfectly seasoned—coming from someone with authentic experience in the region, I can assure you it’s the real deal and definitely worth a visit! View menu

First time there. Went around 1:45 on a Friday, place was empty. I was ordering takeout. Very surprised by the ambiance of the interior as it was totally unexpected based on the exterior. The traffic on Wolfe street seems to hide this neighborhood gem. The hostess was super nice explained the menu as I'd never eaten Afghan food before. Ordered the beef kabob meal. Food was good. wait wasn't long. Price is average. Would like to stroll back over dine in so I can get the full experience explore the menu more. Yes I'd recommend.

This was my first visit to Helmand Kabobi Cafe, and the ratings lived up to the hype! Exactly what I was craving—delicious food! The lamb was especially tasty, and my order was ready incredibly fast. The staff were polite and efficient, making the experience even better. It’s definitely worth going out of my way to visit uptown for this place. I’ll definitely be back! Although I took carryout and didn’t dine in, the atmosphere looked inviting. There were no delays or issues at all. An awesome experience! Food: 5/5. The menu offered great variety and everything sounded appealing.

"Highly recommend Sweet Peaz Southern Kitchen! The food is served fresh and hot. We were a party of eight and ordered Fried Whiting with Yams and Mac n Cheese, Chicken and Waffles, Fried Chicken Wings, Chicken Tenders, Fried Shrimp, French Fries, and Collard Greens. The Sweet Potato Waffles were absolutely delicious! The fried chicken, shrimp, and fish were cooked perfectly and tasted as good as they looked. The seasoning was just right—not too salty, allowing the flavors to shine. The yams and collards were a real treat for the taste buds. And the cornbread? Simply amazing. My only disappointment was that the first taste was free (haha). The Mac n Cheese was decent, but the Chicken Tenders didn’t quite live up to their name; however, they did remake them for us to take home. The space is small and simple, with old-school music that adds to the enjoyable dining experience. They limit dining to one hour to ensure everyone can enjoy the food, which I appreciate—I dislike when people linger for too long when others are waiting. The staff were friendly, making us feel valued and appreciated. Prices are reasonable. One downside was that many items were unavailable, including grits—which was a big letdown since I was looking forward to the famous Shrimp and Grits—as well as butter, potato salad, seafood salad, and tartar sauce. I recommend calling ahead if you’re craving a specific dish. Despite this, it was a great dining choice and lived up to the positive reviews. Overall, we left satisfied and would gladly return. Parking is street parking only, as there’s no dedicated lot."
