"First time back in a year. Sadly very disappointed. Price have increased by at least 25% which I could understand due to inflation but food quality has really dropped off. Portions are smaller, Ordered seafood C himi and was undercooked and filled with mock crab for $18.00. Bean were straight out of a can were soupy and rice was bland. Both were unfortunately Luke warm. Service was very good and staff was very polite but come on food quality is frankly very poor. They need to take a step back and reevaluate the operation and get back to the basics of good food. Like the place and want them to succeed but at this rate people will be looking for other option"

"The drinks were incredible, and I highly recommend the Blueberry Basil Lemonade if you enjoy a tart flavor—it’s my absolute favorite. For my meal, I had the rare Herb-Crusted Hanger Steak (as you'll see in the picture), and it was one of the top ten steaks I've ever tasted. It was incredibly tender and truly melted in my mouth; I can promise you won’t be disappointed. The prices were quite reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting. I can't wait to return! — Beau Geer"

"When we got to Jensens they did not have our reservation since we were at the restaurant NOT the cafe which is farther away. Apparently there are two places and my reservations were at the Cafe since the restaurant is NOT on Open Table. Needless to say we were in a difficult spot as we were going to a concert at the Ames Center nearby. They found a table and we have our dinner."

"At the start of the pandemic, I found navigating their website quite frustrating. The menu offerings had been cut back significantly, and I couldn't make any substitutions or changes. I hadn't even realized that Ole Piper was just a few blocks from my home, though I suspect their menu hasn't changed much from then. In recent months, I've driven past Ole Piper on Cedar Avenue and noticed what appeared to be designated parking for pickup orders (it turns out it's reserved from 4-9 PM), but I never ventured into the lot to check it out. As I recalled some of the dishes from their menu, I felt a bit anxious about actually placing an order. The website lacked clear information on the ordering process unless you began an order, which then prompted you to sign up. This made me hesitant, so I often left the site. However, this week, I finally decided to gather my courage and create an account to join their loyalty program (which the website doesn't explain very well). I logged in and placed an order the following day, and the food was just as delicious as I remembered! The portions were generous but not overwhelming, and I ended up with more food than I could eat in one sitting, leading to a day and a half of tasty leftovers. The pickup process turned out to be easier than I anticipated. You simply call to let them know you’ve arrived, unlike McDonald's, where everything is done electronically. I managed it well and was pleased with the overall experience. Today, I decided to order just one item, and it was both delicious and satisfying. I plan to continue returning. Making substitutions was easy and integrated into the process, and I regret not coming here sooner. Of course, the pandemic has forced many places to adapt, but I'm really glad I decided to revisit."

"We had reservations for 7:30 and it ended up to be about a 40 minute wait before we got seated. It was about another 10 to 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. I had asked about the long wait and was told that they “ made too many reservations “ What is the point of making reservations then? The person preparing the food is usually very interactive and entertaining, and that wasn’t the case either. The portions were smaller than they have been in the past, Especially the vegetable portion, which was mainly onions. This has been my family tradition for over 10 years to go there on Christmas Eve. We had someone with us this year who had never been there and we had bragged about how awesome. Unfortunately, this was our least favorable experience there."
