"I have been a lover of Hunans since I was in my teens. It was our go to place for Chinese most of my life now. We were patient through the changes that started kinda before COVID with decreasing food quality, defended them zealously from those who said it was a nasty place to eat, and anxiously awaited the reopening of dine in. Finally our beloved Hunans was back. Alas, we are done. It appears for all the asthetic improvements, proper food handling was not included. Our last meal from there on Tuesday August 29, 2023 resulted in the worst food poisoning I have ever experienced. I know it was Hunans cause I hadn't not had anything but a protein shake that day and the only thing my husband and I both ate was our take out meal from there. 18 hours of on my knees and other lovely ways of my body desperately purging. Never again. Eat at own risk."

Fantastic Chinese. As always, I had to get Shrimp and Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce, Hot and Sour soup, and an egg roll.

Ever since new management took over, the quality of the food at this restaurant has declined. It is no longer our preferred dining spot. The food quality rates at a 1, service at a 2, and atmosphere at a 2. View menu

Seems like they got new owners?? Sesame seed chicken was bland, and super soggy. Beef and broccoli was bland. We drive from Bastrop and this was first time in 1 year since we been. We will not be back. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50

Trash, even if it were cheap take out the quality still wouldn’t be worth it. Smh.sad they were really good before the pandemic. Wish I would have gone next door to the dollar tree and bought frozen Chinese instead it would have been better quality and I would have saved 54$. Service: Take out Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $50–100 View menu

I placed an order for takeout and informed the restaurant that it would take me 30 minutes to pick it up. They kindly agreed to wait and prepare our food fresh for us when we arrived. We ordered the lunch special, which included Sweet and Sour pork, as well as chicken and vegetables in a delicious brown sauce. The food was hot and tasty. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures of the dishes, but we will always remember the excellent customer service we received. Overall, the service for takeout was fantastic.

I have to say, Hunan's is hands down the best Chinese food I've come across in the area (and that includes much of Austin). Coming from Houston, I have pretty high expectations when it comes to Chinese cuisine, and Hunan's definitely delivers. Right now, it's mostly geared towards takeout. Some of my favorite dishes include the Beef Broccoli, Kung Pao Chicken, Chef's Special Beef, and their Fried Rice with meat options. The Won-Ton Soup is also consistently tasty. As for parking, the restaurant is located in a strip-style building with plenty of parking available in front and in the connected lot.

"Being able to reccomend their sides desserts should tell you everything you need to know of our experience there. The pinto beans and the buttermilk pie were excellent, everything else was anywhere from poor to middlin' at best. Perhaps they just were having a bad day minding the pit?Orders were for a beef rib and 3 pork spareribs with potato salad and pinto bean sides, and the sliced brisket with mac cheese and pinto beans, as well as a slice of buttermilk pie to share. The beef rib was chewy and stringy but did have decently smoked flavor, the pork ribs were roughly the same, neither fell off the bone nor had a decent clean bite when eating. The sliced brisket (ordered marbled) was the best of the proteins, but even at that seemed average as far a juiciness and flavor. Overall the proteins in our opinion ranked 1.5/5 starsThe mac cheese apparently is made with American cheese powder to judge by the color of the sauce, and it appears the potato salad is bulk deli purchased. The pinto beans were wonderful and the butermilk pie was very tasty. On balance they earned 3.5/5 stars.Portions were fair and prices were decent as value for the money goes, but overall we felt for the total cost of just over $64 for lunch for 2 that we would have eaten better had we just gone to a chain retaurant such as Dickey's or Famous Dave's. Value-wise maybe 1/5 starsService was quick and friendly (5/5 stars) and we enjoyed the atmosphere overall(4/5 stars) so we will probably give them another try someday, in hopes that the meal quality being off on this visit was an outlier."
