My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the soup and sandwiches we ordered at this restaurant. We had the French onion soup, Grammy's potato soup, wreck of the Iris sandwich, and French dip sandwich. The view outside while dining was spectacular, and the bathroom was also clean.

My dining experience at this restaurant for lunch was excellent. The food was delicious, receiving a perfect score of 5 out of 5. The service was impeccable, also earning a rating of 5 out of 5. The atmosphere was pleasant, just falling short of a perfect score with a rating of 4 out of 5. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for a satisfying meal.

This lovely hidden gem boasts delicious soup and sandwiches. The staff is incredibly kind, despite the constant stream of orders. Seating indoors is limited, so be prepared to bundle up if you choose to dine outside. I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more often. Recently had a vacation on Washington Island. We ate at several restaurants and this was the best. There were two soups available one was vegetarian and another was vegan. My beer cheddar soup was stellar as was my pesto, blue cheese sandwich. The menu informs you as to what is vegetarian, what is vegan, and gluten free choices. It's hard to find good soups and sandwiches these days, but JHS delivers. I love this island - there's nothing quite like taking a ferry and leaving the mainland behind. I would say that JHS is the best addition to the island's dining scene in years. The restaurant has a beautiful location overlooking a rock island, with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating options. I had the best slice of cherry pie of my life here, no joke. They offer a good selection of craft brews, ciders, and non-alcoholic options. The rotating soup menu has been consistently amazing.
