"Made it for lunch on Tuesday, and had a Reuben sandwich so large that, as I “ate the whole thing,” there would be no supper for me that evening! I can see why the locals love it: it is sunny and bright, and conversations spring up readily across tables and across the room. I suppose one could ask and receive a box, but unwisely I forged on and stuffed myself. It was a classic overstuffed with good corned beef on a very successfully grilled rye with good Russian dressing and, and I’m sure there was sauerkraut in there somewhere—anyway it was too good to stop eating. And I ate the very good pickle and the bag of generic ripple potato chips and drank the rather large unsweetened iced tea—well I certainly got MY money’s worth! I don’t know if you are supposed to bus your own table, but by then I needed the exercise! So I did. THANK YOU JANET FOR HAVING SUCH A WONDERFUL PLACE!"

If you find yourself in or around Onancock, VA during lunchtime, be sure to visit this charming hidden gem. I had the Cobb Salad with feta cheese and their delicious homemade olive oil and seasoning dressing. It was incredible! My son used to work here after getting his driver's license, so it's been a while since my last visit. It was just as I remembered—delicious!

The food here is fantastic! The fruit salad is the largest and most diverse I've ever encountered, featuring an amazing mix of various fruits—not just the usual melon and grapes. The breakfast sandwich and croissant were also exceptional. However, we did have a negative experience with the woman at the checkout. She seemed to be having a rough day and could benefit from some customer service training. She didn't even smile or acknowledge me when I said, "Good morning," and she carelessly dropped our plate on the table, nearly knocking over our coffee mug in the process. I understand that dealing with tourists can be challenging, but not all of us are difficult customers.
