"After 5 years in Oakland, and countless times walking past it, I finally tried Jimmy 's Snacks Deli. And honestly, it 's not bad. One of the standard sandwich spots in downtown that is probably hurting from the lack of businesses, but still gets locals and randos. At this point, I have my go to sandwich spots: Prospect Park Sandwiches (which is literally across the street) for diner sandwiches. The Lunch Box for typical deli sandwiches. Ike 's for intense sandwiches. After two years of Shelter in Place, I 've even started to branch out, now adding Rotisserie Deli (when I 'm really in a rush) and Ratto 's (for when I have time to get south). But more and more the lull of the standards is getting to me, and I 'm desperate for new and affordable spots. Jimmy 's has been here for years, and I 've been past, but with my favorites I never gave it a shot. I decided to on a Thursday with no real lunch plans, and it isn 't bad: breakfast options like croissant bagel sandwiches, coffee, daily soup specials, salads, cold sandwiches, hot sandwiches, avocado sandwiches, pita sandwiches, and paninis. Basically if you want something between a roll or bread, you can get it here. I decided to try the turkey club: turkey, bacon, swiss, on Dutch crunch for $11. It was tasty, didn 't blow me away, but I enjoyed the chewy Dutch crunch and the stacked sandwich. Definitely worth the money. The cashier, who may be Jimmy, was very nice. Chatted with me a bit, I get the sense that his regulars appreciate his positive attitude. I would definitely give them another shot, and hope businesses return so they and many of the others can start thriving again."

Their pastrami sandwich is a must order! I used to work in this building and my lunch was always short so it was a relief to find their sandwiches are such good quality. They've managed to keep their prices low and I'm glad they survived the pandemic
