"My boyfriend and I were on our way to our usual Mexican restaurant when we saw Julio's and decided to give it a try. Despite positive reviews and its proximity, our experience went from disappointing to absolutely revolting. The chips provided with the salsa were stale, and the burrito we ordered was visually unappealing - resembling something you would find in a school cafeteria. The taste was mediocre at best, covering the disappointing aspect of our visit. However, the real horror came when I discovered that the shrimp in my burrito del Mar had not been properly cleaned. I was extremely disgusted and showed the manager, who promptly removed it from our bill. I left quietly, but felt compelled to write this review as a warning to others. Eat at your own risk, but be cautious."

A hidden gem in New Kent County. Salsa was delicious. May have been made from scratch.

The “ground beef” is horrible, doesn’t even look safe to eat! The steak was soggy and not cooked medium well like I ordered, it was cooked to medium rare.

The salsa had no flavor and was thin like water was added. Two of the three margaritas were WEAK. Tasted like kool-aid. Please take pride in serving people good food when they pay good money.

The food and service at this restaurant are good, but we find the portions to be smaller than other restaurants in Mechanicsville that we frequent. The service is excellent and the food is tasty.

Terrible place, rice tasted boxed, meat was so bland I don't even think they used seasoning, the chicken beast was pounded so damn hard that I ligit thought it was chips it was so thin. After trying everything I pushed my plate to the side. Someone came and asked if everything was alright, I told her know that the food doesn't taste right and everything's bland. I didn't expect an offer to make anything right but I know most restaurants will offer some way of making things right, I was offered non. Never going back. View menu

The quality of food here is less than acceptable. the chicken in our dishes and our Spanish rice were both served unseasoned. When I say seasoned, I mean that the chicken was white,as if cumin, paprika, cayenne or any traditional seasonings were completely absent. The chips were stale, the salsa was bland. The homemade hot salsa was smoky and hot, but lacked flavor. The server had zero energy and kept walking away or putting away his pen before we were done ordering. This was a bad experience and we wont be back. Fire whoever is in charge of quality control in this kitchen.

The food at this restaurant is subpar. The dishes seem hastily put together and lack flavor. I ordered the Burrito Blanco, a chicken burrito with frozen vegetables. The chicken was dry and tasteless, while the vegetables were a disappointing mix of green beans, corn, and carrots straight from a bag. The prices are unreasonably high, especially for the measly portions they serve as sides. The restaurant itself is cramped, noisy, and uncomfortable. I suggest dining outside if possible. The staff's thick accents make it hard to communicate, especially in the noisy environment. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant. They take advantage of their monopoly on Mexican cuisine in the area, offe...
