"I had high hopes for the food, but unfortunately, it was the worst Japanese cuisine I've experienced in New York. I've dined at over 100 Japanese restaurants in the city, and this one ranks at the bottom. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because I'm hopeful that they can improve their food. I was really looking forward to this restaurant. Please make it better!"

This sushi competes with the top minimalist spots in Manhattan, but at a fraction of the cost. The other dishes are fantastic as well. Make sure to try the Saba Shioyaki—trust me on that!

I usually take-out. The sushi and sashimi is very good. The fish is very fresh. It is very authentic Japanese food. I think the portion is a bit too small and the price a bit too expensive. There is a Japanese super market next to the restaurant. Very convenient.

The food here is incredible. I have to admit, I usually don't enjoy raw dishes, but this restaurant has still managed to keep me coming back with my friends, many of whom love raw fish. Kondo also offers a great selection of cooked dishes. The minimalist decor is lovely, and the service is excellent.

VERY RUDE staff, all people included. Their online menu reflected lower prices and THEY DIDNT CARE. Not accountable, didn’t honor it or have any remorse. Selfish. I had to tell them to change it myself. The place is always empty anyway, I live close, go where you are respected as a customer it’s overpriced anyway.

Lots of space between tables and throughout the restaurant. My two friends are sushi connaisseurs (I'm not) and we all noted how FRESH the SEA URCHIN was, top notch. The service was very friendly and efficient. The rest of the food (sushi, sashimi, tempura) was alas nothing special. I'll return just for the urchin!Food: 3/5 View menu

I typically order takeout from this restaurant. The sushi and sashimi are excellent, with incredibly fresh fish that offers an authentic Japanese experience. I particularly enjoy the Uni, Toro, and Ikura! However, I do find the portions to be a bit small and the prices a bit high. One convenient feature is that there's a Japanese supermarket right next door.

I've been there a few times now and every time I like it more. Kondo is quickly becoming my favorite place for dinner in Astoria. The staff is always very kind and welcoming. The food is always exceptional. Straightforward plus some fun stuff on the specials list. Last week I had monkfish liver for the first time (yummy! and the best squid of my life. The mushroom soup was divine.
