"If you’re expecting a nice French cafe with traditional French flavors, this isn’t it. The flavors are decent, I’m not sure what they were thinking with the buckwheat crepes, but it doesn’t blend together. I had the eggs Benedict crepe with salmon, for such an elegant dish the crepe completely ruined it. It was like eating a fishy sponge with eggs on it. I ordered the French onion soup which was their “specialty,” not sure why, because it wasn’t much better than what you get at Panera or another fast casual restaurant. It was like the forgot how to use seasoning in any of the food. Although the food was decent, my main problem with this place is the price. There is a crazy up charge for just being in this location. With the surrounding restaurants the up charge is there as well but, they make it worth it with amazing waitstaff and incredible food. My suggestion is just stop in if you want an overpriced cup of soup but go somewhere else if you’d like to have a nice meal and feel good about paying the up charge."

I had a lovely lunch. I ordered an empanada and a tamale, accompanied by a mixed green salad. We sat on the sun terrace, which felt cozy on a pleasant, breezy day.

This is the daughter writing on behalf of my father. To begin with, the service was outstanding; the servers were incredibly kind. The food was fantastic, and I absolutely loved the Ratatouille crepe. I highly recommend this place—it's perfect for lunch!

What a charming little find! The staff were incredibly friendly. Without a doubt, it's the best French onion soup I've ever tasted! As a vegetarian, I was excited by the variety of options available. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fantastic spot for brunch! View menu

What a delightful find! The French onion soup was absolutely perfect—10/10. The tamales and empanadas were enjoyable, but the chicken in both dishes was a bit dry. I would definitely recommend trying the ground beef empanadas and the pork tamales instead. As for accessibility, there's a ramp at the entrance for wheelchair users.

I had a wonderful experience at this cozy local French restaurant! I stopped by for dessert and indulged in some delightful crepes that lived up to my expectations. After savoring a glass of wine along with a few fresh fruit crepes, I left feeling fully satisfied. This charming spot in downtown Black Mountain is definitely worth a visit!

Finding a good, authentic tamale has been a nearly impossible quest for me until now! I tried both a vegan tamale and a vegetarian tamale, and they were both delicious. My husband had two veggie empanadas and enjoyed them as well. The restaurant is located off the main roads in Black Mountain, tucked away in a uniquely styled house. Don’t let the exterior deter you – the inside is quaint and cozy, with wonderful service. We will definitely be returning. The menu is inspired by French and Latin cuisine, so I’m sure the crepes are equally delicious! View menu

We can't recommend La Guinguette enough. First and foremost, the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting; it really feels like you've stepped into a charming little French town. The food was exceptional. My husband had the empanadas, while I enjoyed the French onion soup and a salad, both of which were delicious. However, the highlight of our meal was definitely the dessert—the crepes were among the best we've ever had. We're already planning our next visit to try the savory options! From start to finish, our dining experience at La Guinguette was delightful. We loved all the restaurants we tried in Black Mountain, but this one truly stands out as some...

This charming little gem is truly exceptional. We began our meal with a couple of empanadas as appetizers and were delighted by the flaky, buttery crust and the flavorful filling. For our main courses, we both opted for crepes. The La Forestiere crepe was generously filled with freshly cooked mushrooms and a delicious sauce, while the La Stroganoff featured savory beef and sauce. These were some of the best crepes we've ever tasted! We also ordered a French onion soup, which was freshly made and served steaming hot with a delightful cheese crust. Additionally, we shared a pork tamale that was prepared in the traditional style, but it stood out for being moist and flavorful, unlike most tamal...
