"We visited when this was downtown and everything was excellent. We tried a few years ago on our anniversary and it was good, but not worth the hour drive. We tried again after a wedding renewal Saturday (with the bride and groom) and 4 others and it was not at all what we remembered. We had reservations and there was no clear path to scoot past those in line to check-in. We waited forever for the waiter, the drinks, the food, the check, the receipt. Some of our order was missing. He kept saying they were busy. I hollered across the dining room as I watched him place our meal at 2 other tables. He actually sat my husband's plate down in front of another patron and had it not taken so long, (and been so hungry) I wouldn't have accepted it (flu season). Then we ended up being given and paying for the wrong ticket- didn't notice till we were gone that the items on the receipt were not what we ate (big difference in price between ribeye and catfish). He handed plates across the table instead of taking the moment it would have taken to place in front of us. An easy meal took 2:30 to finish and we were on a crunch. No worries though, 18% gratuity had already been added so no real incentive to deliver excellent service. I really wanted better from this restaurant. Its a beautiful place, the chef is hospitable, some of the food is pretty good, but it's my second disappointment there and its an hour away from home. Tab we paid was $104.00. I would expect better. We will not be going back. Now for the positives: the orange ginger yams and catfish were great. The ribs and chicken wings were not as tender. Brisket was good. They were out of fried green tomatoes. Collards were OK. The mac and cheese was great! Our table sampled so we could try multiple items. I heard the au gratin and ribeye were wonderful. Didn't have time for dessert but would've tried the sweet potato cheesecake."
