"Now this is real Mexican/Texas Mexican food like what I ate growing up. It’s always these small town restaurants that have the best version of Texas Mexican food. Nothing fancy. No made up, watered down or remixed versions of good old Tejano food.It was breakfast time and I was traveling through, so it was a blessing to be the first customer early in the morning. I ordered the carne guisada with two eggs over easy, potatoes and refried beans with flour tortillas. This is how I know whoever is cooking grew up in Texas or learned how to cook from a Tejano. The carne guisada tasted like my mom or grandmother made it. I went to town on it and before you knew it, I was cleaning the plate with my last piece of tortilla, just like I would at home. Not to mention the salsa verde was hot!The coffee kept coming and the waitress didn’t let my cup dip beneath halfway. The restaurant was quiet when I entered but soon was packed with the hustle and bustle of peopl getting their morning started with a hearty breakfast. If you are ever in Refugio, TX and craving a hot, hearty Mexican breakfast the Tejano way, you can’t go wrong coming to La Ribera!P.S. They are Dallas Cowboys fans, so you already know!!! How bout them Cowboys!!!"

If ever your passing by here is the best place to stop for a hot meal. You will find the friendliest servers. Clean and fast. And did I say quick just in case you are in a hurry. View menu

I had a very tasty breakfast! I really enjoyed the migas. The service was quick and friendly, and the menu was extensive. The prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere was clean and welcoming as well.

Very good Mexcan food, Breakfast tacos are great...Potato n egg taco w/ bacon n chesse are the bomb.. Chicken fried steaks are very good...they use to be bigger , but i think they cut back in size...tortillas are best all around..

STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT! My parents stopped here on their way to Houston and ended up with severe food poisoning. They ordered chicken flautas, which were burnt, and my mom got chicken with rice and beans that lacked any flavor. The service was terrible as well. This is the worst restaurant I've ever encountered. Just avoid it!

Ok let me start with the positive... the food is delicious!! The tortillas and chips were home made, the salsa with just the right amount of heat and everything we all had was excellent! Now the bad... It took several times asking to get chips and salsa even after we ordered our drinks although several parties came in after us and were greeting with chips and salsa almost immediately. So we finally order our food. While waiting for our food, other parties ordered after us or even came in after we ordered and they were getting their food before us. Then they started bringing our food out... I got my entree first. Then 10-15 minutes go by before they bring another plate out. Then another 10-15...
