"We have enjoyed shopping at this restaurant over the years when it operated as a seasonal production market. In recent years, it has transitioned to a year-round operation and still offers a wide variety of locally produced and homemade products. Some of our favorites include the small carrot cakes, various flavors of brot laafs (such as cherry and apple), large buttermilk biscuits, a diverse selection of dried fruits and vegetables (we especially enjoy the dried green apple bits in hafermehl), as well as other snacks like dried green beans and apple chips. The current owners took over the business about 7 or 8 years ago, although it has been a staple in the market for decades. They have introduced new offerings such as warm soup to go during the winter, grass-fed meat, and homemade granola, which we tried for the first time on our most recent visit earlier this month. You will also find familiar Michigan brands here like Higher Grounds coffee beans and Cherry Republik jellies and jams. However, there are always new surprises to discover at this market. One of our recent findings was a locally owned business with a great selection of Michigan products, including a delicious glass spade salsa."

Basically an indoor produce stand, this is the perfect stop on the way to the lake for Michigan blueberries, peaches, apples, asparagus, string beans, sweet corn and of course... cherries! They also have locally produced preserves, maple syrup and spices. And I'll second the cinnamon bread that stuff makes a mean french toast!

Their rhubarb bread is amazing. I bring back several loves and keep them in the freezer every time I go to Michigan to see family. My neice said they don't always keep it stocked because it's not one of the best sellers, but they will make it fresh if you purchase 6 loaves at $4/loaf. It's well worth it and it does freeze well.

I ordered a 9-inch cherry cake for $9. Half of the pie contained 6.5 cherries, which were worse than canned cherries. The rest of the cake was gelatin. It is disappointing that this cake comes from a place 20 miles away from the cherry capital of the world. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The crust was decent, but it gives a bad name to Cherryland.

I feel compelled to share my terrible experience with any possible new patrons. I have been to this charming market several times in the past two years, but the manager is the most rude and disgruntled person I have ever come across in a customer service position. I strongly advise against spending any money at this market!!! I would willingly drive an extra 5 miles each time just to avoid supporting this business. View menu

I purchased a 9-inch cherry pie for $9. Half of the pie only had 6.5 cherries, and they were not even whole cherries and tasted worse than canned cherries. The rest of the pie was like jello. This is disappointing considering it came from a place known as the cherry capital of the world, located 20 miles away. The overall experience was a travesty to say the least. The crust was decent, but this pie gives the cherry country a bad name.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant that I feel compelled to warn potential new customers about. I have been here multiple times in the last two years, and the manager of this establishment is the rudest and most unpleasant person I have ever encountered in a customer service role. I strongly advise against spending money at this restaurant. I would go out of my way to travel an additional five miles just to avoid ever setting foot in this establishment again.

This little country store stocks fresh produce, some refrigerator staples, and freshly baked breads and pastries. Each item I've purchased from the aforementioned list has been tasty and fresh. But the item I want to tell you about, am hesitant to tell you about...is the cinnamon bread. Soft, sweet, caramel and cinnamon. The $5 price tag is a deal. I'm embarrassed/proud to say that my husband and I have polished off a loaf in one sitting. Mind you, our tummies rebelled afterwards. View menu

"Alas, let me tell you a tale of a famished individual who was in dire need of nourishment. I was fatigued after a long day on the lake, when I inquired on where to dine. To my horror, there were few if any dining establishments open for me to enjoy at that hour (8pm)! Nearing full hunger, I fell into despair, not knowing where I could fill my belly. But to my pleasant surprise, Hungry Tummy was ready and open to serve a young fellow as I! My comrades and I ventured to the restaurant, unsure of what we would land upon. A quaint, corner side restaurant with a sign that brought me hope of a full stomach. As we were seated, I couldn’t help but notice the friendly townfolk residing at the bar, talking among themselves about their excursions of the day. An arrangement of televisions provided all the entertainment that I needed, NASCAR! As I ordered my food, I was unsure of whether the quality would match the joy of the surrounding environment. But indeed it did! The cheese curds were scrumptious, loaded with cheese and breaded with a jalapeño crunch! The large pepperoni pizza was as delectable as they come, putting the final dagger in my appetite. As we waited for the bill, I counted it as a gift that I had stumbled upon a place like this. In sum, my experience at the Hungry Tummy is one for the ages, and shall be experienced by all in need of nourishment not only of the body, but of the soul.
