"Fantastic breakfast spot! It was bustling when we visited, with all the tables occupied. The staff was very accommodating and we were able to sit at the counter. Service was quick, though the kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed with many orders coming in at once. The food was quite tasty overall. The hash browns were decent but lacked onions or seasoning. It's conveniently located right off Route 1."

The new owners are gonna run this place into the ground. Owners are very rude. The new cook is so freaking slow 40 minutes to get food.

Because of the limited breakfast options from Wiscassett, Damariscotta and Newcastle, the Marketplace Cafe is a standout. Great food options at decent prices. Plenty of parking. Right on Rt 1. View menu

We had their delicious Haddock Chowder! This place is definitely full of regulars! A guest even offered to let us pull up a couple of chairs when he thought there were no available tables. Reasonable prices with daily specials! Beth, the server, is a gem!

Our server, Jere, is incredibly friendly, prompt, and efficient. She always takes excellent care of us, and we eagerly anticipate our visits just to see her. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere feels warm and inviting, like being part of one big happy family.

"The bar, though small with only about six seats, boasted an impressive selection of red wines. My wife chose an excellent Malbec from Argentina for $9 a glass, while I enjoyed a Sam Adams winter lager. The bar was well-stocked with a variety of bourbons, whiskeys, and other spirits. At our reservation time, our server escorted us to our table, which was nicely arranged with about ten tables in the cozy dining area—half for couples and half for groups of four. I estimate there were around 34 guests during the 5:30 seating, and the atmosphere was intimate with a nice noise level, perfect for conversation. It's not the ideal place for large parties of 14 to 20 unless you’ve made special arrangements with the owner or chef. As for the menu, it changes with the seasons and featured dishes perfect for December's chill. I did wish for a warm soup option, but it wasn't available that night. We started with a wonderful arugula salad topped with shaved root vegetables and a tasty dressing, paired with fried calamari on the side. For our main courses, my wife had the yellowfin/ahi tuna priced at $26, while I opted for the rack of lamb at $35, served with potatoes and green peas. Both dishes were cooked to perfection—absolutely delicious! We were glad to have saved room for dessert; we shared a scrumptious carrot coconut cake that was the perfect end to our meal. The total for our dinner came to $160 for two. The only thing this restaurant could use to enhance the experience would be a nice view, perhaps a cozy fireplace for winter or a lovely bay view with sailboats at sunset. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic meal with excellent service in a cozy atmosphere, making it a spot I’d happily return to with family or good friends. Thank you, Little Village Bistro!"
