"Well I hate to change a 5 star review to 3 stars, but today’s service was less than favorable. Just after being served our food, we were brought the check and asked to pay because our waitress was getting off work. Then she takes my card and holds the reader flat watching me enter the tip, so I put 25%. And then we continued eating, with empty drink glasses and completely ignored by every employee who walked by. I dropped my napkin no chance I’m getting another one. Drinks are empty and my mouth is on fire from the salsa. I think we’re gonna pick a new regular spot for a while. Really sucks, we’ve loved Matt’s, but this is just pitiful."

Phenomenal food and a great atmosphere, just not the most attentive service.

Food was amazing and came out fast! We did dine out on the patio, so it was a little loud.

Classic tex mex. We came later and it was not super busy, still would not seat us until all arrived. A little annoying. View menu

Best Mexican we've ever had. Calvin was absolutely incredibly, funny, and gave great recommendations. Top notch food, drinks, and service.

Always amazing! My dad has been eating here since 1955 and now the whole family loves to eat here as often as possible. There are many reasons this place is so popular and rated in the Top 25 Privately Owned Restaurants in the Nation!

This was our first time visiting this place. The service was good and the food came out pretty quick. The carne guisada was good and meat was tender, but I didn’t care for rice and tortillas. Chips were not that good either they were really crispy. My husband did enjoy the flavor of his Al Pastor tacos. We would definitely like to give it another try though. View menu

The atmosphere was great, and our waiter was amazing. My husband ordered the fajitas and I got the enchilada dinner it was good but not amazing. The meat was tender but the flavor was just ok. I think we are just spoiled to the fajitas at Lupe Tortillas. The hot sauce was way too hot, and I feel like we can handle some pretty hot stuff but , we could not even eat theirs. All in all, I would not, not go back but, I would rather eat somewhere else.

I had Matt’s El Rancho for the first time recommended by a couple coworkers. I ordered the half lb sizzling fajitas which was pretty good. Surprisingly the chicken was better than the beef fajitas where in my experience it’s typically the opposite. Most of my coworkers ordered the enchiladas which all of them didn’t like compared to the fajita people. Mexican food I’m Austin has been a miss for me for the most part (outside of tacos) but so for getting this dish in particular I would say order it if you come here. For everything else, it was just ok. An honorable mention to the martinis that you can pour the clear shaker in was neat.
