"Mean Bird began as a food truck, but has now established a physical location alongside their mobile chicken delivery service. This fried chicken restaurant offers the standard options of bone-in chicken, boneless chicken, and sandwiches, but also features a unique twist with their house-made vegan "bird." The vegan alternative is crafted from fresh vegetables, whole grains, rice, chickpeas, and herbs, then breaded with coconut milk and fried. While the vegan "bird" is quite delicious, it's more akin to a fried croquette than a true meat substitute, so keep that in mind. All sides and sauces are clearly labeled as vegan or non-vegan, eliminating the need to inquire about ingredients. Seating is quite limited, with only four stools available at the window, so it's advisable to call ahead for takeout."

The food is amazing. I order a spicy chicken sandwich. The chicken was perfectly fried and the sauce was perfectly balanced with the toppings. Definitely will return

It's time to share a new review of their physical location! I arrived at 6:30 PM to grab a hot bun, and I found street parking available. I was welcomed immediately upon entering.

I visited Hardywood West Creek, where there were several food trucks to select from. Mean Bird promised incredible fried chicken and Cajun fries. I'm excited because I love a good roast! View menu

I was thrilled to explore another vegan restaurant, and I was even more delighted to discover they served chicken alternatives! It took me a couple of tries to find the right location, but it was worth it.

Wow, this place is incredible! I discovered it during my travels to Richmond, and after trying it for the first time, I was instantly hooked. The veggie sandwich is truly one-of-a-kind, and they always serve generous portions of fries. Every time I visit Richmond, I make sure to stop by. Even though I no longer eat chicken, I've heard wonderful things about it from others as well.

Light, flaky breading used on the bird, which wasn't overcooked still nice and juicy. The Cajun fries are a must. They offer a variety of sauces to dip and/or drizzle on top of the chicken. We sampled the honey mustard and maple syrup options (both were nice, maple a better choice). Not a lot of seating available, so you can't necessarily consider this a dine out option. Otherwise, a nice chicken spot in Richmond! View menu

Ordered a Bird King Sandwich through UberEats for lunch one day. I thought this would be a normal chicken sandwich but when it arrived I couldn't believe how heavy the bag was. I never thought the day would come when I would have to eat a fried chicken sandwich with a knife and fork, I had to cut this sucker into sections just to eat it and even then I only finished half. Come hungry because these guys aren't messing around.

This restaurant is quite impressive. I tried the Nashville hot chicken, while my fiancée opted for the two-piece meal with Cajun fries. Both dishes were fantastic. If I were to compare it to Hot Chick, I’d say the chicken is cooked just as perfectly, but the Nashville hot chicken isn't quite as spicy, which might be a plus for some, considering Hot Chick can be a bit intense. Just a heads up, it's carry-out only; there’s no seating available, so keep that in mind when you go.

"I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but I have to say I was very disappointed in my dining experience at Adarra. It’s difficult to get a reservation there, so once I was able to, I had extremely high expectations. The drinks were excellent, so no complaints there. The food, however, was not. We ordered the toasted almonds, peppers, cheese plate, tuna belly, anchovy dish, tomato salad, and gnocchi. The almonds and peppers were good, although I have to say they were on the simpler side. The tuna belly made me think I was eating quality tuna from a can soaked in olive oil. That’s the best way I can describe it. It was a bit tough and on the dry side, and I didn’t finish it. I don’t usually eat anchovies since I’m not a fan of the typical fishy taste, but was assured that their version wasn’t fishy at all the way they prepare it. I ate a piece or two but couldn’t finish it. Soaking the anchovies in olive oil did not hide the fishy taste. Some people may like that fishy taste, but I definitely didn’t. The cheese plate was okay. The crackers weren’t anything special, and the amount of cheese was pretty minuscule. The tomato salad was actually the only thing I ordered that was delicious, and the only thing we actually finished. After being at the restaurant for almost two hours, the gnocchi had still not come out. We told our waitress we didn’t want it and decided to leave. I heard so many great things about Adarra and had such high hopes. But after such a disappointing meal that we paid over $200 for, we will not be returning."
