"trust me, that's worth waiting! if only there wasn't a waiting time every time, I would go back in a definitiw. it was interesting to know that everyone has to make the line, even prominent. If I go back to savannah with someone who has never been, I would make the line. eating is already set on the table as soon as they board and they are welcome to bury. So, that compensates for the waiting time they do. I went on a day off and was in the queue for an hour. make sure they have cash, no cards are accepted. if necessary, there is a cash machine in front of location. everyone was really friendly and it was nice to meet mrs. wilkes enkelin. she came to our table and imagined and was available when we needed something. our top picks were the fried chicken, fried okra, koleslaw, kandierte yams, mac and cheese, and the bananenpudding at the end! the fried chicken was juicy, tender and perfectly crispy outside. it's definitely one of the top riders that I had. it was an interesting experience to sit family style with another family and interact with them."

I have an odd love-hate relationship with this restaurant First and foremost, if you can get in the door and get a seat, the food is delicious.

Set-up family style, this is the best place to visit for lunch in Savannah! An absolute must! You are sat at a large family table, with your company and

Our meal was delicious. It fed all of us in the family and we thought that we were going to have to supplement with other food. Nope it was plenty. Our little one loved the chicken along with everyone who proclaimed it to be the best fried chicken they had ever had Everything was so good. Well worth the wait in line. We will be back View menu

Southern hospitality at it's best!! Delicious food!! Sit with total strangers and get to know one another while eating fried chicken, collard greens, fried Okra, and other delicious food. Dessert was yummy too. Peach cobbler or banana pudding was our choice, yum. Does not take card, cash only. Be prepared to stand on line 20-30 minutes, but it's worth the wait.

BEST MEAL IN SAVANNAH BY A MILE. Loved most of our expensive and fancy meals but the entire experience of Mrs. Wilkes is the one I will remember forever. We bonded with folks around us while waiting in line which turned out to be great because you sit with those around you when you get in. On top of this the food was INCREDIBLE and you get to try it all. I did not have anything I did not greatly enjoy. Make sure you put the pepper hot sauce on your fried chicken and don?t

The most charming, delightful, best southern home-cooking experience that we have and probably will ever have. It was everything that everyone said it would be. First, get in line early and by early at a minimum 10-10:30 am. They are open at 11 am promptly but the line forms around 10 and will wrap around the building by 11. First come first serve, no reservations, cash only (or check) at $30 a person. This was not a problem at all, because the experience is phenomenal. They View menu

We loved everything about this experience. The food was fabulous, there were 2 3 different meat options and I think I counted 16 (yes 16!! veggie options. I thought the fried chicken was better than The Pink House (yes, I was there the day before Mrs Wilkes I'm on a diet now and my dining partner couldn't get enough of the beef stew. Everything was fresh, hot and plentiful you will not go home hungry. We met some friendly folks in line which made the perfunctory 60 minute wait seem like 5 minutes. Grandson Ryon's doing a great job keeping up the traditions at Mrs Wilkes I really felt like I was going back in time with the family style service, a table of ten strangers and all the memorabilia...

the most charming, most charming, best South House Cook experience we have and will probably have ever. it was all that everyone said it was. first, early and early at at least 10:30 in the snake. they are open around 11 o'clock, but the line is around 10 and around the building around 11. first come serve first, no reservations, only cash (or check) at $30 per person. that was no problem at all, because the experience is phenomenal. they will bring out maisbrot and play trivia that we enjoyed very much before we even throw foot into the dining room. this is a common type of employment, it is like sitting on grandmother for thanksgiving. they are served icy and only over the best fried chick...

"We had a good experience, we went for my daughter and she adopted the experience! Our waitress seemed new, but sweet. I would recommend her listening a little more closely as we wanted to start with drink orders and rather than taking our order, she walked away to get everyone waters. She was really keen on wanting to tell us the history of the location and things in the tea house but I would recommend knowing more about the menu items and as she couldn't explain what was in their chicken salad. (Which kind of made me laugh as the menu was very descriptive of everything else. The chicken salad was good, the hot cocoa could have been more chocolatey. My son had the salmon entree while my daughter had the salmon sandwich and both enjoyed their meals. The soup of the day was a white chicken chili and it smelled amazing but it was a bit too salty for me. My son's girlfriend seemed to enjoy her bowl of it. My husband had the quiche and seemed to enjoy it as well as the pots of tea he shared with our daughter as well as the shared the tea sandwich platter for the table. The favorite for the family was the cherry almond scones. So my h so that my daughter got an order of them to go. However only two of the three were the flavor she ordered as they ran out, so she was stuck with a vanilla scone. She was slightly disappointed because she enjoyed the cherry almond so much but has yet to try the vanilla. The waitress heard we were celebrating a graduation, a birthday, and an anniversary so she was sweet to bring out some complimentary blueberry mini muffins, however the timing was off as three of the five family members had already departed as I waited for the check. It was a very sweet and appreciated gesture. The timing was just off. It was cool to learn that those employed at the tea room were all SCAD students. Overall it was a good experience. I felt it was a bit pricey and the service seemed slower than it should have been as they weren't busy. But my daughter had a wonderful experience and that was appreciated. The decor was beautiful and really neat to hear the history of."
