Nico's Hideaway - Menu

The server gave great service, the food was good but the restaurant needed a good cleaning; this made us hurry up and finish our meal.

my family and I have loved this place since our first meal. we just went for valentine’s and something was gone. the service and some of the food we ordered were not as good as usual.

the restaurant is good for a special occasion. the portions are generous, served in beautiful wise. everything tastes good. the price is slightly higher than they would expect from a local place. Total View menu

better eat than last time, a year ago. good value. service good minus a too long time after we have the main 20 minutes was longer than ideal. we will return. booths a little better than table we had, which was close to an exit door.

True the 49 ers we’re playing on the bar TV and everyone was preoccupied except our table. Twice we had to get up and seek out the friendly waitstaff. We all had burgers and fries, and they were great. We sat next to the bathroom and the smell of sanitizer wasn’t too bad, but the place looked shabby. That said I would go back for a burger but not expect much in terms of atmosphere or service.

The wait staff could not have been nicer nor better in any respect. The restaurant had no detectable central heat and the two space heaters were entirely inadequate. The pea and saffron risotto had great flavor but was served luke warm and even reheated was still luke warm. The ambiance (except for the temperature) was lovely and the food is deserving of a second chance. Here’s to a “better next time “ possibility. View menu

Five us shared the ahi tuna appetiser, and we all but fought over the last pieces. It was that good. Three of us ate steak with two side dishes of our choice....squash and asparagus. The steak was cooked to perfection (as were the sides) and very large. One member of our group took the leftovers home. The other two members had scallops and lamb, and they finished everything. Our one regret: we had no room for dessert.

Had no idea Nico's was even in Berkeley! The food was consistently good crispy brussels sprouts in a not overpowering garlic/balsamic glaze, freshly made rolls, delicious and large Caesar salad, tasty seared scallops with a pea risotto, New York steak perfectly cooked and delicious. We were surprised but happy. However, the prices are not low, by any means. Service started out quite good and then the server didn't come by for a long time, and forgot to ask us if we wanted dessert. Only a few choices were available and none were appealing, so we didn't, but would definitely be inclined to come again. the location/environs is excellent. the staff/servers were friendly and attentive. the food was a great disappointment. we all ordered different plates and no one was satisfied with everything. even the desert was unimaginable. How do they make a bad cheesecake? my wife thought her skalopps had been frozen for a long time, and they sat up, but a puppet player of risotto. at about $30, it was a total one. my hen was hard and dry and the womb was just weird.
