Nilsa's Puerto Rican Bistro

I really loved this restaurant. It had a comforting, home-cooked vibe. Nilsa made us feel right at home, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Nilsa, as I mentioned earlier, I'm not one to express my thoughts casually, but I strongly recommend that you reevaluate your business model, the presentation, and your staff before moving forward.

The parking is easy to access, and the ambiance makes you feel welcomed and at ease. The restaurant is spotless, and we had the delightful opportunity to chat with the owner. The food is amazing, and the prices are unbeatable. I will certainly come back on my next visit! View menu

The food was excessively salty. I ordered yellow rice and beans, but instead, I received white rice with just a few beans. The sweet plantains were soaked in oil, and the meat looked unappetizing, resembling dog food. I requested ketchup but never got any. I won't be returning, and no one offered an apology for the disappointing experience.

During our first visit, the food was quite good; however, the restaurant's hours of operation were unclear. We relied on the hours posted on Facebook, only to discover the restaurant was closed when we arrived. Another customer, who came to pick up an order from Uber Eats, also found themselves outside with us, attempting to peek through the locked doors.

I recently had the best mofongo I've had in a long time! The atmosphere is quiet and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The aromas of pernil and arroz con gandules are incredible. We've been visiting Tampa due to my mom's chemotherapy treatments at Moffitt, and this restaurant is conveniently close to the hospital. We discovered it last week and have already been there twice! The service was terrible; the woman who took our order appeared to be unhappy and might want to consider a different job. The restaurant had an unpleasant odor, and the food did not capture the authentic flavors of Puerto Rico. Although it was not completely inedible, the presentation was quite poor. The pork chop, fried pork pieces, and tostones were all excessively oily. I definitely won’t be going back.

Amazing Puerto Rican cuisine! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The carne guisado platter, accompanied by yellow rice and gandules, was particularly outstanding. This restaurant surpasses Pollo Tropical by a long shot. You can genuinely appreciate the care and attention to detail in each dish, evoking the warmth of a home-cooked meal from your grandmother. My husband and I moved to Tampa a few months ago and have been exploring various Spanish cuisine restaurants. So far, none of them have lived up to our expectations. Having grown up in New York and lived in Connecticut, we've always had access to a wide range of delicious cuisines. However, Nilsa's stands out as the best food we've had since arriving in Tampa.
