"Definitely captures the dark Irish pub feel. Food was good, nachos were made with their homemade potato chips which was unexpected but surprisingly delicious. We also enjoyed the Irish egg rolls, whiskey sizzler with chicken (comes out like fajitas on that cast iron sizzle skillet but made with a tasty whiskey sauce), Shepards pie and the Rueben sandwich. I would recommend both the Shepards pie and whiskey sizzler ????. Prices are pretty average for the area and we enjoyed the"

As someone from Ireland, I find it very difficult to find an 'Irish pub' that I truly like - O'Connell's does just this. Firstly, the indoor decor of this

Absolutely phenomenal service and food! My baby shower was here, and the staff went above and beyond to make it a perfect experience. The Shepard's Pie and Salmon with Shrimp were delicious. View menu

This place looks like a pub (which it is) but it's also got outstanding food! Come for the food, stay for the drinks and friendly Irish atmosphere! It has a great selection of both traditional and modern food. Something for everyone!

Nice service, stopped here for an app and a drink. We got the calamari but I don't recommend it, it was spongy and off. Also got the sampler platter. Truthfully only the fish was any good. My friend got a chicken wrap and said it was great so I guess maybe the entrees are better View menu

It's a beautiful classic building filled with the most delicious food. We had the Irish Cider on tap which was the best cider I've ever had. We ordered the steamed mussels in a white wine sauce, the seafood linguini, a kid's cheeseburger, and the steak. Everything was amazing. I would order any of it again and be ecstatic.

Would have been three stars if the service was better during this visit. Scotch eggs appetizer was good, but a bit overpriced. Two eggs for $14? Their fish and chips was very good, lots of fish and good light-ish breading. A bit oily than I would?ve liked, but nonetheless good fish and chips. The issues with the service were that 1. My water was empty for more than 5mins before I had to grab another waiter for a refill. 2. I was unknowingly(wasn?t told) charged $2 for

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."
