"Pappas is always good, sometimes very good, but not great. The sliced beef and sausage are excellent. The chef salad is huge, most eat it for at least 2 meals. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. They could really improve their French fries, they are usually soggy and not at all in keeping with the excellent standard set by all Pappas restaurants. ."

I had the brisket in jalapeño roll possibly the best BBQ beef I've ever had. Outstanding.

I give this restaurant 5 stars for both the food and service. While I was downtown and hungry, I couldn't resist the temptation to have lunch at Pappas BBQ. I ordered the chopped beef baked... View menu

I love the location of this restaurant, which is the newer one close to downtown. It is always bustling, yet the drive-thru line is usually short. I recommend dining inside for a better experience. My favorite item on the menu is...

First taste of Texas BBQ and I was not disappointed! Not many proper BBQ joints in downtown Houston, but this is a good find! Had the 2 meat combo of brisket and pulled pork, with mac and cheese and potato salad on the side. Finished off with sweet tea. Yum! View menu

This is my 1st time in Papas Barbecue. Once I got the lay of the land, it was great. I had the baby back ribs, potato salad and coleslaw topped it off with one of my favorite beers and enjoyed myself. Next time I'm in Houston, I will be back because the ribs were delicious, potato salad and coleslaw as well. Thank you Papas.

Great BBQ chain for a quick lunch. Service is very fast and the food is delicious! Their ribs are massive and so tender. I was not as big of a fan of their brisket, but everything else was amazing. I tried the pulled pork, the pork ribs, and the sausage and all were great. They have a few different types of BBQ sauces and self-serve bread and toppings.

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
