"That night, they were featuring a "burger brew" special, so I decided to order that. Although the rest of the menu looked fantastic, I wanted to try something that felt special. They have a separate menu dedicated to burgers, and I chose the gouda burger, which came topped with bacon, caramelized onions, and gooey gouda cheese. I could make a pun about it being a "wicked gouda burger," but I’ll resist the temptation. It came with a side of kettle chips, which I opted for over other choices because they sounded perfect at the moment. To drink, I had a delicious maple stout because, when you're in Vermont, you have to indulge in anything maple-flavored to truly enjoy the experience. Overall, we had a lovely dinner and appreciated the ambiance of the place. I would definitely return, especially since it seems they have special events each night with different themed dishes."

Dining at the Grafton Inn was a great experience. Food was exceptional with many options. The Phelps Barn was beautiful and rustic with open beams and fireplaces. Staff was friendly and fun. Can't wait to go back again.

The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly! We visited with a large group (made a reservation) on burger night. The burgers were delicious, and it was such a great deal! I can’t wait to come back and try an entrée; everything looked amazing! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This is by far my favorite spot in southern Vermont for dinner and cocktails! Food is amazing, I recommend the Filet with the brussel sprout and the mushroom risotto. The bar is always inviting and the barn feel gives it that Vermont country atmosphere. Local musicians always add an already great vibe. View menu

Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience! The live music is definitely worth experiencing. I highly recommend trying the cheddar and ale bisque and the Brussels sprouts—they were amazing. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. Just a heads-up: the arugula salad leans more towards sweet than savory.

Just had dinner with my family at the Phelps barn restaurant last night and everything was excellent! Lisa our server was extremely nice, very attentive and made our meal that much more enjoyable. The renovated historic barn/building we dined in was very cosy, Clean and just a great place to eat in. All of food was delicious, burgers, duck, Mac and cheese, Cesar salad. Deserts! . Highly recommended!

I didn't call and make a reservation because I figured this place is in the middle of nowhere of Vermont. How could it be packed? Well, I was wrong. Every table was reserved. We ended up sitting at the bar which is anyways what I prefer. They had live music playing all night! We ordered the soup of the day, which was something creamy but whatever it was, it was good!!!! Everyone seem to enjoy their entrées, and the bartender was really sweet. We also met some people from New York and Tennessee while sitting at the bar. This restaurant is connected to a hotel so you'll definitely see a lot of out of stators here. If you plan on going to this barn pub definitely make a reservation. View menu

That evening, the special was a burger brew, so I decided to go with that. The rest of the menu looked fantastic, but I wanted to stick with the special. There's a separate menu featuring a variety of burgers, and I chose the gouda burger, which comes with bacon, caramelized onions, and gouda cheese. I could make a dad joke about it being a "wicked gouda burger," but I’ll refrain! It was served with a side of kettle chips, which I was happy with. To drink, I had a delicious maple stout—when in Vermont, you have to indulge in everything maple, or you're missing out! Overall, we had a delightful dinner and enjoyed the atmosphere. I would definitely return, especially since it looks like they...

Imagine this: it's freezing outside on a winter night in Vermont, but inside Phelps Barn, it's warm and inviting. The friendly staff leads you to your table right in front of a crackling fireplace, offering a lovely view of the beautifully restored barn—a charming slice of rustic life. We were staying at a Vrbo in Grafton and made it a point to visit the renowned Phelps Barn Pub, which is just a short walk away. The atmosphere was cozy and the food options were solid. We started with the mac and cheese, which could have used a bit more salt. Since we dined on a Thursday, we took advantage of burger day and tried the mushroom Swiss burger. While it was good, it didn't stand out. Our favorite...

"We had dinner outside last night. We had 6 in our party. In the past we have had very good food and service but that was not the case last evening. The server had a bubbly personality but it did not cover up the fact that the service was poor. We ordered some appetizers which included clam chowder for a couple of us. I specifically asked that my chowder be brought out as my MEAL but that did not happen. We waited approximately 25 minutes for any food to come to the table and the restaurant was not busy. The delivery of the food was out of order. The appetizer was served right before the entrees. The two steak tip dinners were overcooked and reminiscent of shoe leather. When we made mention of this (we ordered medium) they said that the dishes might have been sitting under the warmer a bit too long! Two new steak tip dinners were brought out with one being cooked as ordered and the other still overcooked. As for the clam chowder, both parties who ordered it agreed it was full of potatoes with very few clams. My son enjoyed his fish and chips although a few pieces were overdone. My mother 's mac and cheese was bland. Again, we have always enjoyed this restaurant in the past. We usually dine at the bar but even when we did previously the manager came out to apologize for the long wait for food as they were short staffed . Overpriced food for the quality offered.
