"Although I am not Vietnamese, I have tried a lot of Pho. Each Pho restaurant has a different family recipe that is passed down through generations, according to my ex-girlfriend's family. My current girlfriend, who is first-generation Vietnamese, believes that this restaurant is known for having the best beef Pho in town. The menu consists of only Pho and drinks, no rice or appetizers. I tried the beef Pho and found it to be very good. The meat was a good balance of thin raw beef and tasty, not-too-fatty brisket. However, my bowl was a bit lacking in tendons and tripe. The tripe was a bit gamier than I prefer, as an Asian who enjoys eating tripe. The broth was well-balanced, although the star anise flavor was dominant. The beef stew was too oily for my taste and had more miscellaneous beef pieces than I would like. The fresh French bread that came with the meal was warm and fluffy, but unfortunately, the stew did not match up to the quality of the Pho. I would give this restaurant a rating of 3.7 out of 5 stars."

You can tell it's a great place when you indulge yourself like crazy. This is still our favorite spot in San Diego, even though we don't live here anymore.

Best Pho I have had in some time. Delicious fast and reasonably priced. They only serve pho, and non alcoholic drinks. Sit outside, enjoy the weather and haveing a yummy bowl of Pho:

This restaurant is the epitome of a pho establishment. They do not offer spring rolls or vermicelli dishes. Instead, they focus on serving delicious pho with noodles, broth, and meats.

Another great experience at Pho Hoa! I love this place. I always go out with the intention of trying someplace new, but then end up here. So many pho shops are a disappointment after Pho Hoa! Closest thing I have found to Hanoi pho bo in the states.

Hands Down the Best Pho in ALL SAN DIEGO. Super Authentic and Delicious. I found this place about 6 or 7 years ago and have not been to another place since. Nothing compares. Don't forget to ask for the chili oil. It is not that spicy don't be scared. It adds so much flavor.

If you like Pho, and this is not your first bowl of pho, you will love it. This is very authentic, very delicious, and they only serve pho. Not chow Jew ho fun, no kidney or seafood, pure beef. Try the iced cappuccino with condensed milk, unless you are Vietnamese you have never had anything like this. View menu

My friends and I have all agreed this Pho restaurant is the BEST in SD!!!<br/ <br/ They don't decorate at all, but the pho is extremely good, the meat, the broth, the noodles...<br/ <br/ I am Vietnamese, have had a ton of Pho, all the Vietnamese people I know agree...even my friends who visit from Arizona- go straight here after several hours of driving....

Soup for a Rainy Day!. Ok, let me just say I'm not a huge beef fan. So, when I say I crave this soup, it's really a compliment. The service is fast and this place is always packed. The atmosphere, I think is kinda cool. It's kind of cafeteria style but anyone who's been in SD for a long time talks about how this was a strip club before. Anyways, glitter disco ball aside...Get the steak soup and load it up with fresh herbs like sweet basil, sprouts, then add plum sauce and siracha hot sauce. Great on cold, rainy days! Oh, slurp it all down with the coconut milk. Yum!

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
