"I happened stop by Opelousas for something on an empty stomach so I was pleasantly surprised to see Mama’s Fried Chicken on my route. The place itself is an older mom-and-pop type family restaurant. The parking lot did not appear to be very big and it was full even though lunch rush was over. Since I was traveling through, it was nice that they have a drive through (actually, 2 for my convenience. The menu had a big selection and variety and from reviews I’ve read, it seemed like everything was pretty good. I went with the 2 piece fried chicken dinner, I mean the place is named after fried chicken! They had several sides too, not just the usual fries. I chose the rice dressing. I added a drink to my order and my total came out to $7.58. My order was taken quickly and I didn’t have to wait long for the food. The picture of the food I posted doesn’t look the best, but the food was hot and fresh. The biscuit that came with my order was pretty good, the chicken had a spice to it, but could be a little more seasoned in my opinion, and the rice dressing was good. I would also like to add that I wasn’t given any napkins in my bag. I don’t know about everybody else, but if I go through a drive through, I usually try to eat it in the car. Napkins would have been great since everything was pretty oily and got a little messy. (Thank goodness I keep hand wipes in my car though! If I have another chance to be in the area, I’d like to come back and try some of the other menu items!"

"Could no longer be satisfied with the quality and price of their Poboys. Very full. We ordered Shrimp Poboys and they are one of the best in Opelousas. The bread was also great, nothing worse than hard baked bread with small shrimps as some places give you. You did not disappoint, bread was fresh and filled with beautiful shrimp! In any case, it'll go again."

"The first couple of times I had their Pizza, I didn't care for it at all. If there's a such thing as too many toppings, that was my main complaint. Now that I figured out how to order the perfect Pizza it has quickly become one of my favorite Pizza jointsto frequent! The chef salad is also fantastic! Mary has been our server each time we've eaten there and let me tell ya, she isabove and beyond awesome! The place is always slammed yet somehow she stays on top of everything. Drinks never run dry, shechecks on each table with what seems like perfect timing. Also she has a loud and strong voice which is a must for a small placewith so many people inside."
