"We've been visiting Carolina Beach for a decade, but somehow we never discovered this hidden gem. Without a doubt, it's the best meal we've ever had on the island. The menu features a single page of carefully curated dishes, and I'm convinced that we could have closed our eyes, pointed at anything, and it would have been incredible (we tried the marinated steak and the Maui special - absolute perfection!). The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating to our kids. We had the first reservation of the night, and they even made some fries for the little ones, which were unlike any fries we've ever tasted – simply amazing! If you do nothing else, make sure to visit SALT FISH!"

The food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. The staff offered great recommendations and were extremely friendly. The ambiance is relaxed and welcoming. Make sure to book a reservation for the weekends, as it’s a cozy restaurant in a busy area. I will definitely eat here every time I come to Carolina Beach. It has swiftly become my new favorite place.

What a fantastic little gem! The food was incredible, and the drinks were just as impressive! The two women working at the front were attentive and efficient, ensuring everyone was taken care of throughout our visit. This will definitely be our go-to spot whenever we're in town! Be sure to make reservations, as it's a small place that fills up quickly. Food: 5/5

I really enjoy this charming little restaurant. I often love my meals here, but this time I accidentally ordered something that didn't suit my taste. However, the catch of the day is always outstanding! Price per person: $20–30. Food: 3 stars. Service: 5 stars. Atmosphere: 5 stars. Ideal for groups of 3-4 people. Seating options include indoor dining, a bar area, booth seating, and counter seating.

I had the pleasure of dining at Salt Fish for the first time today, and I was blown away by everything I tried. We sampled the smoked fish dip, a poke bowl, roasted cod, and shrimp, all of which were absolutely delicious. The tiki cocktails also stood out, with the voodoo cocktail being a particular favorite. I loved my voodoo cocktail, especially because it was served in a fun, quirky angry unicorn tiki glass—it was simply delightful! View menu

However, the service was the most disappointing part of our experience. With such a small number of customers, we still found ourselves waiting a long time for everything. When the server finally checked in on us, she accidentally spilled some of my drink and promised to bring a replacement, but she never returned. Given the small crowd, I expected the service to be outstanding, especially to make up for the lack of flavor in the food.

We had an amazing dining experience! Even though we didn’t sample any of the starters, you can tell a restaurant is remarkable when everything on the menu catches your eye. Be sure to make a reservation, as the seating is somewhat limited. Our server, Philip, was exceptional. Next time, we'll definitely be ordering the duck. We enjoyed four appetizers, one side dish, and a bottle of wine for under $120, which is an incredible value for such high-quality, delicious food!

Meal Type: Dinner Price Range: $20–30 per person Food Rating: 5/5 Service Rating: 5/5 Atmosphere Rating: 5/5 If you're looking for a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend this place! The food is exceptional, with standout dishes like the Chinese Sausage Fried Rice served in a pineapple along with shrimp, and the Blackened Mahi-Mahi paired with coconut rice and a delightful vegetable medley. The Crab Stuffed Portabella is also a must-try! The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere truly enhances the meal. A perfect spot for dinner! View menu

We had a wonderful dining experience at Salt Fish on July 19 during our first visit to Carolina Beach. The fish we ordered was caught on the very same day, and the freshness was evident thanks to the impressive cooking techniques. My husband chose mahi, while I went for swordfish. The wine selection was outstanding as well. On our next visit, I’m looking forward to trying one of the fusion dishes, as the menu featured many enticing options. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was full of flavor. The atmosphere was both intimate and inviting, while also maintaining an elegant restaurant feel. The service was excellent, too.

I’m embarrassed to admit that last night was my first visit to Salt Fish! I’ve always heard amazing things about the place, but I never managed to stop by until now. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed everything, from the atmosphere to the wine—and of course, the food! The Brussel Sprouts were outstanding. We also had perfectly cooked Scallops, Shrimp wraps, and Saigon Noodles, all of which we loved. We left feeling extremely satisfied. Katie was incredibly friendly, the chef came by to check on us, and our server was fantastic. I will definitely be making this one of my go-to spots as a local in Carolina Beach. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

"Here’s what we tried: **Nauti Dog**: This was your typical hot dog with some toppings. The cheese and bacon were tasty, and the pretzel bun was excellent. Overall, it was decent but nothing extraordinary; if you’re just craving a good hot dog, this one would likely suffice. **Chili Dog**: We had this without mustard since my middle son doesn't like it. Like the Nauti Dog, it was a solid hot dog. It didn’t wow us, but it was a good chili dog, and the fried onion straws added a nice touch. **Cali Dog**: This one was quite different, and we really enjoyed it, especially my wife. The combination of cucumbers, tomatoes, and raw red onions created a lovely texture. The onions added a nice kick, balanced by the guacamole. With so much flavor from the toppings, we barely noticed the turkey dog underneath. We would definitely order this again and recommend it to anyone looking for a refreshing hot dog option—almost like a salad on a bun! **Gouda Dog**: This was my personal favorite. The mustard, pimento cheese, and onion straws gave it a strong cheesy flavor while still maintaining the essence of a hot dog. It was heavily topped, so we even used it to dip our chips. If you’re a cheese lover, this hot dog is for you. I’d also recommend it for anyone willing to try something a little different. **Pretzel and Beer Cheese Appetizer**: My wife really wanted this to satisfy her pretzel craving, and she was pleased. The beer cheese was standard fare, but since we ordered carryout, it was more of a thick paste than a pourable sauce. It still tasted good, though the texture was a bit off. The pretzel was decent but nothing to get too excited about. **House-Made Chips**: Each hot dog came with a side of their house-made chips. Two of my three kids didn't enjoy them at all. To be honest, they had a slightly burnt, overly fried taste that might be an acquired taste. Personally, I thought they were fine, and they improved when dipped in the ranch dressing we got. We might opt for a different side next time. Overall, we had a good meal that served its purpose. While we probably wouldn’t make a special trip back to Nauti Dog, if we found ourselves in the area again, we’d likely stop by to try some of their other unique hot dog offerings."

"We had a party of 7. Exceptional service. No lagging in drink refills or mistakes in anyone's orders. The food was exquisite! We experienced appetizers stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and cheese sticks. ALL delicious. Martini menu was large, and we enjoyed several different ones. ALL delicious and made strong. Salad before meal was superb, fresh greens, picked beets, garbanzo beans, fresh cherry tomatoes, red cabbage, cauliflower, so many different texture mixed with the house dressing which is a one of a kind experience. Everyone envied not having the recipe. Our main courses were all highly anticipated by this time and certainly did not disappoint. Apple walnut pork chops, chicken parm, Ribeye James style, chicken Alfredo, chicken marsala, and all enormous portions. Pasta was handmade, and sauces were rich and flavorful. Steak and porkchops were juicy and cooked to perfect temperature. Everyone could not be more delighted in their choice of main course. It was difficult to, however, to make the decision to box up the remainder of our delicious plates before us to leave room for dessert. We all agreed that we must have the FULL experience of this wonderful place. We ordered terimisu, cheese cake, canoli, peanut butter chocolate cake, and lemon cello cake with, of course, black coffee. There were no regrets at that moment as the desserts melted in our mouths. And we were validated in our previous decision. The coffee was rich and the best brew I've received in a restaurant in a very long time. There were absolutely no issues that could be considered negative in this beautiful experience. One of our meals was delayed coming out, but it was comped on our ticket. Our waiter, who is originally from Jersey, was friendly and prompt. He conversated and offered suggestions on the menu and desserts that were not on the menu. (Big Score). I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a great adult family dinner or date night. Notes: Parking is limited during tourist season, so go early to find parking. Reservations are a must. The restaurant is small, and seating is limited."
