"Silky Kitchen offers the real deal in authentic Hunanese cuisine. As soon as I walked in and saw Chairman Mao's Favorite Braised Pork a true signature dish, on the menu, I knew this place was legit. A onetime resident of Hunan, my husband claims that the food at Silky Kitchen is as good as one might find in Hunan itself. A self-defined fast casual spot, Silky Kitchen offers top-notch restaurant-level rice and noodle dishes, with spiciness customizable from regular to medium to spicy to extra spicy. We ordered the hot and sour fish noodle soup and the stir-fried chicken with chili paste over rice. The former was mind-blowingly delicious. The fish was so tender and the soup perfectly tart. Every bite was heavenly. So heart-warming for a cold winter day. The latter was too spicy for my taste, although my husband, a spice fiend, loved it. The service was quick and efficient. The space was large, clean, and very pleasant, comfortably fitting multiple strollers. We will surely be returning--to try Chairman Mao's Favorite Braised Pork no less."

Stewed beef soup noodle was basically beef and noodle soaked in warm water, no taste AT ALL!! $16 for water soup base. Unfortunately.Hunan style beef rice was good tho.Three star is reasonable.

The Hunan food here is incredibly delicious. I found that the spiciness level was just right—many restaurants in the city tone down their spiciness to cater to the New York palate, but this place did it perfectly. Food: 5/5.

The noodles at this restaurant are incredibly tasty! I definitely recommend adding an egg on top. It's a great spot for a quick and relaxed lunch or dinner, and the portions are quite large, so make sure to arrive with an appetite. View menu

This restaurant consistently offers some of the freshest food in New York. There's just one long table for dining, but it’s a must-visit for me whenever I’m in the city. Just a heads up: the extra spicy option really is spicy! Food: 5/5

I always love dining at Silky Kitchen. The staff are friendly and welcoming. However, one thing I dislike is the payment machine, especially for New Year's. Why is the first tip option set at 22% after tax? It would be great to have more flexible choices. The menu at Silky Kitchen remains excellent as always.

This is one of the top Chinese restaurants in NYC. The noodles have a unique smoky flavor that I can't resist whenever I'm nearby. They pack quite a bit of heat! While I typically opt for spicy or extra spicy at other places, I found that the medium level is perfect here. I suggest starting with a milder option on your first visit and then adjusting according to your taste. View menu

We were on the hunt for some classic Chinese food and came across this restaurant. If you enjoy spicy dishes, this place is ideal for you! It has a fast-food or takeout atmosphere, but it's very clean and has a great design. My wife chose the mild chicken noodle soup, while I went for the pork and chicken over rice. Both meals were full of flavor and had a nice spicy kick. We really enjoyed what we ate, and the portion sizes were decent. P.S. The restroom was clean!

This is a self-service Chinese restaurant with a reasonably spacious seating area. The fast-food style means you place your order at the back, retrieve your own food, and clean up after yourself, so they do not accept tips. I tried a bowl of rice noodles with stewed beef, choosing the mild spicy option. Both the beef and noodles were well-cooked, and the broth was relatively light, which I actually appreciated. It provided a cozy warmth without being too rich or heavy on the stomach. This would make for a perfect comfort food choice for a weekend lunch.

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
