As ALWAYS, great food, great service and perfect atmosphere. Also very good wine.

I opted for the "Trust Me" option on the menu and I was not let down. The food was incredible, and the service was outstanding.

First time eating there and we will be coming back! Lots of pluses as well as excellent cuisine. The parking lot is easy to get in and out. Bathrooms are clean. Beautiful drive there. Open year round. Family friendly. Great place to go for a special time with someone. View menu

Love this place, the food is amazing and service is always great. Look at the bar when you get there, they have higher end alcohol that is not listed on their drink menu. (Look up high. Views of the lake are amazing. Try the Trust Me on the menu. It is different every time and even if multiple people order it at the same table. Always amazing!!!

We try to make it to Spanky’s a couple times a year. The food is outstanding and service is too. We had a young waiter this time and he seemed new. He was fine, just not the service we are used to. Our table had the filet Oscar, trust me, and prime rib. Corking fee was $15, but did not get a cooler to keep the wine chilled, so that is why I’m giving 4 stars. Spanky’s is one of the best values for fine dining!

10/10 meal! I forgot to take a picture, but I ordered the Hawaiian chicken. I loved the coconut rum sauce that came on top, and the chicken was super crispy. My partner ordered the seafood alfredo and liked it, but said that it was kind of one-note in the flavor department. Very kind staff, and love that you can buy local goods like sausage and pickled carrots when you walk in. I hope they restock their clothing options, was hoping to get a sweatshirt when we visited. We felt rushed from the moment we arrived!! Two of our party were late and first thing the waitress did make it clear that we were to done at 6:30 as our table had been reserved by others at that time!! The food was not out standing. A roasted red pepper sauce on our scallops had little to no taste. The green beans on the side were just that green beans. No surprise not even a little brown butter and toasted almonds. The steaks were not seasoned and in a couple of cases not cooked to order. For the price we just expected a little pizzazz! Beautiful building and great view of the lake!!

When to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to see the Giant Trolls Memorial Day Weekend. While talking to a Local Resident , I asked where was the best place to eat and his response was Spanky 's Stone Hearth in Frazee, Minnesota, about 10 miles East of Detroit Lakes. We made reservations, but could only get them a 8:30 pm. We started driving which felt like in the middle of nowhere and then it suddenly appeared. A huge beautiful Log Lodge sitting at the end of a pristine Lake. We were promptly seated in an almost mystical Grand Room (my photo does NOT do it justice). Service was outstanding, Prime Rib to die for. HIGHLY RECOMMEND...!!

Unfortunately, last night and two years ago, the service was quite rude. The server never smiled, and their demeanor felt almost hostile. Additionally, our walleye was lukewarm and overcooked, which was disappointing. It just doesn’t feel like the same place we once loved. After selling our lake cabin last summer, the hour-and-a-half drive no longer seems worth it. The greeters when you enter are very pleasant, but it would be beneficial to train your servers to show more care for the customers. A little attention could lead to better tips in return. Sadly, we have decided not to return. We’ve given it too many chances, and it's disheartening to let go of such a lovely spot. View menu
