I strongly recommend Tamales Jovita for its fresh and delicious tamales and enchiladas, particularly the mole chicken enchiladas, which are my favorite. It’s my go-to place for authentic Mexican cuisine.

Unexpectedly amazing! Initially, I thought this place would be just average due to its small size and limited seating, but WOW—it has turned out to be the best tamales I've ever had. Absolutely delicious!

But the real question is: who makes a truly exceptional Tamal, rather than just an average one that probably lacks the necessary skills, finesse, and quality ingredients? If you find yourself in Escondido, San Diego County, this is the perfect spot to get your tamales. They are fresh and come in a delightful variety, allowing you to choose or even sample different types. Additionally, you can opt for a tamale dinner, which includes beans and rice—a choice you won't regret. The restaurant has a genuinely authentic vibe, reminiscent of stepping into my aunt's house, filled with beautiful artwork and handmade decorations.

I've been on the hunt for great tamales for a long time. Not only do I genuinely love tamales, but they also evoke fond childhood memories, especially from when I lived thousands of miles away from Mexico. Growing up, my mom and her mom used to make something quite similar to tamales that is a specialty in eastern India called Gojha. Gojha is made from wheat flour dough and is generously filled with fresh yellow chickpea paste, seasoned and mixed with Indian spices.

Kid friendly, nice staffsolid variety of Tamales, low prices and an AMAZING chocolate tamale. We came an hour before closing and they had sold out of a few flavors including the dessert one. There was only one lady on staff and she kindly volunteered to steam one of each, although she did mention that it would take 30-45 minutes.
