"I ordered a shawarma sandwich, but what I got was closer to a gyro. The meat was not at all like traditional shawarma; it was pressed and grilled, resembling tasteless burger meat sliced into thin strips, and it was clearly overcooked. The toppings appeared to be hastily cut from a burger and left out to dry. The fries were soggy and completely lacking in salt. The tzatziki sauce was simply chunks of cucumber mixed in, not even blended. It seems like this place is thriving mainly because local workers prefer not to drive far for a meal."

I order a burger with fries and got a burger with a bunch of lettuce. Payed $12 plus tip. Never coming back. Be sure to check your food before you leave the place.

This restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind, offering an extensive selection of choices. The prices are reasonable, especially when compared to other local spots. And I must say, the girl in the Hogwarts hoodie is absolutely charming! Food: 5/5 View menu

Ordered shwarma... They just put some Carne aside figured people won't know the difference. I ate it, it was OK. But it wasn't shwarma. It's so close to work, I really wanted to like this place. Hoping it was a miscommunication or they were just out.

The food is outstanding, and the counter staff are welcoming and helpful. I particularly love their daily specials, which provide discounted meal options that vary each day. The dishes come out hot and fresh. It's a great spot to satisfy all your cravings!

A one stop shop for food, drink, etc.. first time here but i was instantly impressed. I had the patty melt on sourdough and freshly made French fries. Super good sandwich. It's combination of a restaurant and a liquor/711 store? Friendly staff, plenty of sitting. View menu

The food was delicious specially they're beef teriyaki bowls. I do wish that it came with more rice. Also the Philly cheesesteak did not have the cheese pull I was expecting but overall still delicious. The customer service was great, I felt very welcomed when I walk in every time.

I tried their teriyaki chicken rice bowl special with drink. It was a hot day with no AC, so it was a little stuffy in the restaurant but I managed. The rice was a little sticky, but the teriyaki chicken was fine. There are better options not too far away so not sure I would come back but most of it's appeal is for the offices that are a walkable distance from it.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
