"So today was my first time going there with a few friends and I was highly disappointed. We ordered the quesadilla and told the waiter twice to make sure it’s vegetarian as we are vegetarian. He said yes it was all fine. We get our food, after eating most of the quesadilla we discovered that it has fried pork skin. We mentioned this to the waiter and he apologized and owned up to his mistake. We were like it’s okay mistakes happen and we understand. Moving on I had ordered a drink and two sips in, I had to return it. The drink wasn’t good and I ended up getting something else. At the end our waiter said he will give us free dessert as a sorry for messing up our order. We were thankful but when the bill came at the end...not going to lie but I was a bit shocked. He ended up charging us for the quesadilla which he messed up on and the drink that I didn’t drink and returned. The dessert was $5...which he took off. I thought to myself I would have gladly paid for the dessert over paying for something I didn’t drink or properly eat. I felt disgusted eating pork skin considering I’m vegetarian. However I didn’t create a scene and paid the full bill due to Covid also. I won’t be returning to this restaurant because at the end of the day it’s about principle. You don’t mess up someone’s order and than charge them for it."

Turned into a 2hr meal because there was only one person taking orders, serving, busing tables, etc for the entire place- poor guy! View menu

We had Devanta as our server and he was absolutely amazing! Both he and Manny made us feel very welcome so hospitable. We will be back for sure!

We were really impressed with The Gringo. They have a great patio and followed all the rules regarding social distancing and Covid precautions. As a result, we were very comfortable, had some drinks and ate incredible tacos! If you are a togas person and looking for a great nation vibe, The Gringo is your place. View menu

Second time we tried to go and have a drink as well as dinner and they were completely closed. We had a 7pm reservation and they turned my friend away. Please be more considerate of your guests. We are also in the industry and understand slow times and things happen but a phone call would have been nice. The first time we made a reservation the place was closed.

I understand that it’s COVID season so the ambiance is a little off. But we chose outdoor seating because we thought it would be lively. We got there and we were the only ones there. Can’t blame the the restaurant for that. But it was so awkward. Being the only people there would not have been a problem but there was no music, just dead silence other than ourselves. Why not at least try to make the restaurant feel a little exciting? There was one waiter and just us. It felt like I was eating in my backyard. More people showed up as we were leaving but I felt bad for them because I knew they would feel the same way we did. It just felt sad. Maybe it’s a lesson to just stay inside through all...

"Tempesta is arguably one of the best sandwich shops in the city. They make a lot of their meats in house and use high quality ingredients so you know you’re getting the good stuff. Not only can you get a great sandwich, you can purchase most of their meats to go as well as other small artisanal grocery items. I have tried almost every sandwich they have on the menu but my top two choices would be the #1 The Dante and the #2 Yo! Vincenzo! The Dante is their version of a classic Italian sandwich but a bit on the spicier side. The Yo Vincenzo is a chicken parm and I personally think it’s the best chicken parm sandwich in the city. The chicken is perfectly crispy, and they use just the right amount of sauce where it doesn’t get soggy. Both of these sandwiches come on their fresh baguette which helps set them apart from other sandwich spots in Chicago just because of how good it is. The B Franklin is also a great option, and if you’re starving get the Wagyu Pastrami but be warned it is a very heavy sandwich because of that Wagyu. The last pro tip I’ll add in here is order your sandwich ahead of time if you’re doing takeout. This is a very popular spot and is always busy during the lunch rush so if you wait to order until you arrive you may need to wait for 10-15 minutes. That should speak to how good this place is because it’s in such high demand, so if you’re in Chicago make sure you stop in!"
