"I have been dining at this restaurant for several years during ski season, usually at least once or twice. We have more than just dinner there, as the breakfast is typically quite good. However, the dinner can be hit or miss. Yesterday, we opted for the $45 dinner buffet. The atmosphere and staff were excellent, and I did not experience any service issues like I have in the past. The staff were very helpful. The problem was the food selection. There were not many options for a $45 buffet. The quality was decent at best, with only 6-7 items available, one of which was terrible - the jambalaya was overcooked. Our table of 4 and the one behind us left unfinished plates, and even the children noticed. The other dishes were just okay, nothing special. Though the quality of the roast was good, the overall value for the price was not worth it."

Made a reservation in advance after seeing menu online and reading about the views from dining room. Instead, seated in a back corner and given a limited menu or buffet option. Manager gave us a weak apology. Drove back to Traverse City very unhappy.

Was sat right at arrival. 20, twenty minutes later and no one came to our table. Left went to the shanty, had drink in hand and dinner ordered within minutes. It’s a shame, I’ve been a home owner nearby for 20 years and the service never improves here.

Took forever for someone from the waitstaff to come to our table. The hostess was also the bartender. I know they were short staffed that evening. Ordered the north woods burger with truffle fries. The burger was delicious. Had to ask the waitress for the fries. By the time they came out everyone at the table was finished eating. A few in our party tried the oriental buffet. Ok but wouldn’t try it again. Lakeview, you always seem to disappoint. View menu

thé buffet for New Years eve dinner was not ready to pay for the price. as a chef I was not impressed by the choices and would like to have a menu. the nativity was ok and where the glazed carrots. nothing was listed on the buffet as we had to guess what each food item was. the new renovations are not elegant and there should be tables next to the fireplace. the tables of the bar were not preferred since the buffet should be. the lighting could also be dimmed. the service was not great, as we were not offered a second drink and always received our leak. for straight clearing boards could have been the service more efficient.

The menu at the restaurant looked promising, but unfortunately we never had the chance to try it. The restaurant was severely understaffed, which wouldn't have been a problem if they had informed us before we were seated. We waited for half an hour without seeing a server or even being able to place a drink order. No one approached us to explain the situation, so we had to rely on other tables who were also waiting for their orders. Frustrated, we eventually left and had to search for another open restaurant nearby on New Year's Day, which proved to be very limited. In the end, we had to drive half an hour to pick up takeout, as it was the only other option available.

"I recently flew from Toronto to Houston and decided to dine at this restaurant with family living in the area. I made a reservation for six people, and coincidentally, my uncle had also made a separate reservation for four at the same time. We met by chance in the parking garage and were excited to all be at the same restaurant. When we arrived, the hostess, a Hispanic lady, greeted us, and I explained that we had two separate reservations, but were part of the same family. Her demeanor instantly changed, and she rudely asked, 'What do you mean? ' I calmly repeated that we had made two independent reservations. She responded, 'That’s not how it works, ' as if implying we had intentionally split a larger group into two reservations to bypass some rule, which was not the case at all. To make things worse, she seated us far apart, even though there were many empty tables around. I politely asked if we could sit closer, not together—just near each other—and she flat-out refused, with an attitude that seemed almost discriminatory. It was as if she was trying to prove a point by keeping us separated, despite there being no real reason to do so. This behavior made us feel unwelcome from the start, and it was clear she didn’t want to accommodate us. We asked to speak with the manager, who eventually agreed to seat us closer, but the damage had already been done. Throughout the evening, the energy was negative, and aside from our waiter, who was fantastic, the rest of the staff treated us coldly, making it clear we weren’t wanted there. To top it off, when I went to pay, I was charged a 20% gratuity for a large group, even though we never sat together and these were two separate reservations. It felt incredibly unfair and added to the sense that we were being treated poorly. It’s unfortunate, because while the food was excellent, the hostile attitude from the hostess and the lack of basic hospitality made for a very negative experience. She should not be the face of restaurant"
