"The atmosphere is also quite pleasant—warm, inviting, and charming, with a comfortable tavern/pub vibe at the bar. The entire place is very clean, and the temperature is usually just right. On nice spring or fall days, it's wonderful when they open the large garage door. There’s also outdoor dining in the back, which adds to the appeal, along with some impressive historical art displayed on the walls. If you visit during a quieter time, I encourage you to take a look at the exhibits, as many relate directly to the history of Shamokin and the surrounding area. It's a fantastic way for them to preserve and share this history with their customers. When the owner is present, he takes the time to chat with patrons and is very friendly and accommodating. However, I do have a complaint that has led me to stop visiting. When the new owner took over, he changed the menu, which is common in restaurants, and I was willing to try the new offerings. As a mostly vegetarian who does eat seafood, I found it manageable. Their salmon dishes are excellent. The issue is that they removed one of the most beloved menu items: the Harvest Bowls. This dish was the main reason I kept returning to Heritage, often ordering takeout. The Harvest Bowl with salmon, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts was unique with amazing flavors—it's something you don't find anywhere else around here. It was also a great vegetarian option, as those who don't eat seafood could still enjoy a fulfilling and delicious meal. Every time I've been there, I've asked if the Harvest Bowls will return, only to be told they won't be back. Because of this, I won't be returning. It's a significant disappointment, especially for my family, as my son and his partner also love it there. Additionally, they removed the mac and cheese dish, another popular vegetarian option for those who consume dairy. While it’s still a lovely place to grab a drink or an appetizer, we won't be coming back for full meals. The only way we’d return is if they brought back the Harvest Bowls or introduced more vegetarian dishes packed with asparagus and Brussels sprouts that taste even better than the Harvest Bowls. So far, there’s been no sign of that happening, which is disheartening, as I’ll miss the delicious Harvest Bowl. In summary, if you’re a meat eater, you will definitely find delicious options here. However, if your friends or partner are vegetarian, they might be disappointed. One thing is for sure: the service will not let you down. Lastly, it's worth noting to pay the meter if you go for lunch, as the town strictly enforces parking tickets for those who don’t."
