"The place is small and has a friendly staff. Had a little chit chat w/the chef while I waited for my Togo order. Sushi made to order and has some interesting milk type teas. My main interest with this place is that they actually put pieces of fish in their sushi instead of what most places are doing now (so many places are using chopped fish salad in practically everything) gross and cheap. 1 extra star for actually using fish and alot of it. The Philly role had a nice Smokey flavor and was bigger then I expected. The avacodo roll was interesting but a bit over the top for me, anyway. I will definitely revisit this place, especially since it is located in a area with so many sub standard sushi restaurants. Signed The guy w/the giant cat head."

First time here. Found it doing a Google search. The other one closer to me wasn't rated nearly as high so I chose this one instead. They even have fresh sushi type rolls too. I will return to this place.

The sushi is excellent here. I really like the Spanaway Rolls delicious! I am fortunate to live nearby Umai and have eaten here many times before and never disappointed. The people who work here are also very nice.

I didn't sit down so I can't really comment on service. I was told to go here and order the family pack special. I did that and it did not disappoint at all. All of the dishes and sushis we're amazing. I will definitely order from them again. (Even tastes amazing the next day) View menu

Umai teriyaki is one of my mom's favorite places to go. She lives over near Spokane now. But she still comes every year on her birthday for her favorite sushi rolls. And whenever she walks through the door they make her feel welcome. The service is good, the food is good and you usually get it pretty quick.

This place I notice has a lot of pick up orders not much people dine in. We came in for dinner. We came because I saw they had rice dishes. My daughter loves ebi sushi it's all she eats at a sushi place, which she mentioned that it tasted weird. Our food was okay. We enjoyed the chicken Fried Rice. We had to ask to refill our water twice being that our server was busy talking with the other boy that works there.
