"Just moved to the neighborhood and discovered this place while walking. Best diner style breakfast special Ive ever had and for $6.95! Great service. Why go to those hipster expensive joints on the Southside and wait 45 minutes for a table and get terrible service from some millennial?"

My father frequented Wally's for years. Now I can say the same. What's more... My son is in college at UTC and now comes here a lot as well.

"The good: they have items labeled as “vegan option available.” The bad: After having our table given away mistakenly to someone who just walked in without waiting, we endured a pretty chaotic dining experience. While vegan options are marked, there is no actual description of what this option entails, and don’t count on the wait staff to know. Also, I ordered the protein breakfast bowl vegan option, which replaced the eggs with tofu scramble, but someone still threw feta all over it. I had to wait for mine to be fixed while my husband ate his breakfast, and when it arrived, it was still an odd bowl of too much raw kale, tofu, avocado, and a scant offering of grains. It wasn’t exactly the hearty breakfast for which I had hoped after waiting over an hour to eat. When I tried to flag someone down for sourdough bread on the side (to fill me up , I just couldn’t get anyone to come over. It turned out to be a pretty stressful experience and not the enjoyable brunch for which I had hoped. I will say that they have plenty of plant milk options available, and the oat milk latte was good. I’d recommend going when things are less hectic so maybe the service would be better. The manager (without me asking! did give me the dish for free, which was super cool, but I wouldn’t order this again. I got a coffee to go, and they gave me a cup without a fitted lid so I spilled coffee all over me before my four-hour ride back home. Lovely. It was kind of a comically bad experience all the way around, but I’m giving three stars instead of two because the manager was just so nice. I hope they work out the quirks because the restaurant environment is lovely. Updated from previous review on 2022-02-20"
