"Awesome place for frozen custard and better than the other chain ice cream spots! It has a classic old school brand but modern and trendy vibe that will attract customers of all ages. Their custard is made fresh and has a much creamier and sweeter taste than regular vanilla soft serve. They will add in and mix the toppings to make each option perfect in every bite. The lines move quick and they also offer samples of their featured flavor(s). I had the turtle whitzer and it was very good."

What a find, best ice cream treat EVER. It’s frozen custard not ice cream. Had the flavor of the day which was chocolate syrup, peanut butter and nut and then added the sea turtle add on. DELICIOUS View menu

My husband and I moved to Jacksonville in early 2023. We heard about Whit's Frozen Custard of Avondale and thought we'd give it a try. Whoa! What a fabulous treat! Our only problem? We want to eat there every day.

My family and I always order all of our birthday cakes from Whits and have for years. Recently, the customer service over the phone and in store has been so unwelcoming and I feel like I am bothering the store when I call to place a cake order or pick up. I hope they do better. I used to love this place, now I just feel like a nusiance.

"First time out for dinner in the last weeks. We sat in the roof, couches are removed and tables spaced, but the same excellent food, service and experience. And we saw a table of that I swear we see every time we go. Glad things are getting back to normal, and masks and capacity aside, last night night reminds us how close we are. Great job, Black Sheep"

"Outstanding in every aspect! This is possibly the best restaurant in Jacksonville. I can't think of a local fine dining spot that surpasses it. It is upscale dining, so keep that in mind. Our server Kay was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, attentive without being overwhelming. The bread service is a bit slow, as others have mentioned, but that's because they bake it fresh. I prefer waiting for freshly baked bread over bread that has been sitting under heat lamps. The décor has a vintage charm that is quite pleasant. It reminds me of old family-owned restaurants in Europe. Our meal was delicious from start to finish. I do wish they had more options for wines by the glass, particularly for white wine drinkers like myself. However, I was still pleased with the selection. The addition of fresh flowers on the table was a lovely touch that is not often seen nowadays. The gesture of placing napkins on our laps was also appreciated. My husband ordered a classic cocktail and was pleasantly surprised by its strength. He had not expected such a well-made cocktail from a wine restaurant. Our total bill came to about $200 for both of us, including a complimentary dessert for my birthday and a bottle of wine. The menu offers great value for the quality of food. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"My boyfriend and I went last night to celebrate one year together! We had a reservation and we were greeted and sat by a hostess immediately. The food was really good! He got the salmon which I preferred over the fettuccine honestly. I would highly recommend the salmon it was to die for. We got truffle fries and a charcuterie board for appetizers. The truffle fries were amazing (we ate all of them between just the two of us)! The charcuterie board was a really good deal as you can pick up to 5 cheeses and meats for only $25. The tiramisu cheesecake for dessert was probably the best part! Our waitress was absolutely amazing! Our drinks were always full and she was very attentive and helped us navigate the menu easily. The only negative thing I can say is that it was pretty loud as we were sitting in a booth right by the bar but that’s to be expected! We will definitely be coming back!"

"I want to give major credit to the chef and the kitchen staff. Our meals were intriguing, delicious, and reasonably priced for such exquisite flavors. We don’t live in the area, and I'm not sure when we’ll be able to return. So, could you all go and share your experiences? We’d love to live vicariously through you! Honestly, if this fantastic place were in Raleigh, we would dine here at least once a week. And on top of that, they have half-priced wine nights on Mondays—how amazing is that?! Overall, we had a perfect experience, and I’m confident that everyone else will too. Cheers!"
